Summary of Role:
We are seeking a strategic and operationally excellent Senior Director of Product Operations to lead the Product Operations pillar within MIPS Strategy & Operations. This role will drive portfolio strategy, product roadmap execution, cross-functional alignment, and operational rigor across the product development lifecycle. The Senior Director will own the frameworks, operating cadence, and decision-support infrastructure that enable MIPS to accelerate time-to-market, optimize investment trade-offs, and scale product development capabilities in alignment with business growth objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
  • Drive MIPS product portfolio strategy, ensuring alignment between business unit priorities, customer needs, and technology roadmaps
  • Drive strategic prioritization frameworks and investment trade-off decisions across product initiatives, balancing short-term execution with long-term growth opportunities
  • Partner with Business Unit leaders to translate market insights and customer requirements into actionable product roadmaps
  • Establish and maintain portfolio health metrics, tracking product performance, market fit, and strategic alignment
  • Own the product stage-gate process, ensuring disciplined progression from concept through commercialization
  • Lead strategic reviews with leadership teams to assess portfolio balance, resource allocation, and competitive positioning
Operating Model & Execution Excellence
  • Design and evolve the end-to-end product operations operating model, defining clear roles, workflows, and accountability structures across ideation, planning, development, launch, and lifecycle management
  • Build and maintain the operating cadence for product reviews, milestone decisions, and cross-functional alignment forums
  • Drive operational rigor in product planning cycles, ensuring accurate forecasting, resource planning, and dependency management
  • Establish governance frameworks for product decision-making, defining clear decision rights and escalation paths
  • Implement tools and systems that enable visibility, velocity, and data-driven decision-making across the product lifecycle
  • Continuously optimize processes to reduce cycle time, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve execution quality
Cross-Functional Alignment & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the strategic orchestrator across Product, Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to ensure seamless product development and go-to-market execution
  • Facilitate prioritization discussions and trade-off decisions across competing stakeholder needs
  • Build strong partnerships with Corporate functions to align MIPS product operations with enterprise standards and best practices
  • Drive consensus on resource allocation, timeline commitments, and investment priorities
  • Ensure consistent communication and transparency across all levels of the organization
Metrics, Insights & Business Enablement
  • Define and own the Product Operations scorecard, tracking key performance indicators for portfolio health, development velocity, time-to-market, and commercial outcomes
  • Deliver regular insights and analytics to leadership on product performance, market trends, and competitive dynamics
  • Identify growth opportunities, risks, and operating gaps through data-driven analysis
  • Enable strategic decision-making through scenario modeling, business case development, and investment analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement culture through metrics-based learning and process iteration
Growth & Capability Building
  • Identify opportunities to scale product operations capabilities in support of revenue growth and market expansion
  • Build operational leverage through standardization, automation, and best-practice sharing
  • Develop and mentor product operations talent, building bench strength and functional excellence
  • Champion innovation in product operations practices, bringing external insights and leading-edge methodologies to MIPS
Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in product operations, product management, program management, or strategy roles within technology, semiconductor, or manufacturing environments
  • Proven track record leading product portfolio strategy and execution at scale
  • Deep expertise in operating model design, process optimization, and governance frameworks
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities with ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Demonstrated success driving cross-functional alignment and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority
  • Experience establishing operating cadences, decision forums, and metrics frameworks
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to synthesize complex information for executive audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools, project management systems, and productivity platforms
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while maintaining operational discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in semiconductor product development lifecycle and market dynamics
  • Background in strategy consulting or corporate strategy roles
  • Familiarity with Agile, Stage-Gate, or other product development methodologies
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives across global organizations
  • Track record of driving operational transformation and change management
  • Knowledge of portfolio management tools and product lifecycle management systems

Expected Salary Range

$198,000.00 - $362,000.00
