POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and lifecycle ownership of EOTECH’s digital imaging platforms, night vision products, and ruggedized portable embedded devices. This role contributes directly to the organization by driving innovation in high-speed digital hardware, precision analog circuits, mixed signal architectures, and compact power systems essential to next generation imaging and sensor products.

This is an individual contributor role with technical leadership responsibilities, requiring close collaboration with cross functional teams across hardware, embedded software, FPGA, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing.

This position reports to the team leader and plays a critical part in expanding product capabilities, improving system reliability, and ensuring EOTECH maintains a technological edge in mission critical imaging systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position is responsible for leading the design, development, and lifecycle ownership of advanced electronic systems spanning digital imaging platforms, night vision products, and ruggedized portable embedded devices. The Senior Electrical Engineer needs to work with high-speed digital, precision analog, mixed signal, and low noise power electronics domains, bridging hardware, embedded systems, and FPGA technologies. Key contributions include enhancing current imaging and weapon sight systems, driving new product development, and assuming ownership of mission critical internal hardware projects.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead end to end hardware design, including schematics, component selection, simulation, analysis, documentation, and multi layer PCB layout.
  • Design high speed digital and low noise analog circuits for imaging systems, embedded processors, and portable hardware
  • Develop compact, high density PCBAs with strict mechanical, thermal, and EMI/EMC constraints.
  • Integrate NXP i.MX, Qualcomm, Kinetis processors and power management ICs, including hardware software co design.
  • Design battery powered systems including Li ion/LFP packs, BMS architecture, DC DC converters with low noise switching and linear regulators.
  • Perform FPGA bring up, simulation, and verification (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
  • Conduct board bring up, validation, and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal analysis tools, and high speed measurement instruments.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers for packaging, enclosure fitment, thermal strategies, and ruggedized system performance.
  • Ensure manufacturability and reliability through DFM analysis and coordination with PCBA vendors and component suppliers.
  • Maintain and improve hardware throughout the full product lifecycle.
  • Perform technical audits and assume full ownership of existing hardware projects.
  • Produce professional grade documentation, revision-controlled schematics, manuals, and engineering reports.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This is an on-site position in Santa Clara, CA. Remote work is not possible for this role.
  • Our office has a 9/80 work schedule, Monday through Friday. Overtime work may be required, as assigned.
  • With or without reasonable accommodation, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform all essential functions effectively, in addition to other demands.
  • Extended periods of working at a computer at a desk or LAB, as needed.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in an electrical engineering or equivalent role.
  • Significant experience in complex PCB design, schematic capture, and board level validation.
  • Strong understanding of mixed signal systems including ADCs, DACs, low noise amplifiers, filters, and sensor interfaces.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or Mentor Graphics.
  • Experience with multi board system integration.
  • Expertise in switching regulators (buck, boost, SEPIC), low noise linear supplies, and advanced power sequencing.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux bring up and Yocto/Bitbake workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of serial interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB.
  • Experience with FPGAs, DDR, FLASH, and programmable logic devices.
  • Understanding of video interfaces including DP, HDMI, MIPI, Camera Link, and CoaXPress.
  • Ability to design for ultra-low noise, compact devices with mixed analog/digital systems in constrained environments.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and independently own hardware development efforts.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering preferred.

BACKGROUND PREREQUISITES

  • Must complete and meet company standards for background checks, employment verifications, and reference checks.
