Job Description

The Senior Enterprise Project Manager independently leads a portfolio of complex client projects from end-to-end within the client services business, and they maintain client relationships, with a focus on providing an excellent customer experience and guiding clients through the entire customer journey within Clinical Trial Services. They demonstrate advanced capabilities in project management and other industry or business processes. This individual delivers results through creative problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and their own mastery of project management. This role acts as a mentor in the team, supporting strategic development. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Independently leads large, complex project portfolio (number of projects depends on client needs and complexity of projects), planning and delivering at all stages in coordination with global PM team; guides the client through the process end-to-end. May handle portfolio of multiple projects for certain clients. 

  • Key member within the team who looks to improve processes, tools, and resources for organization. Provides mentorship and guidance for new hires and less senior project managers and is viewed as a role model leader by peers. 

  • Works with client to outline and maintain project timeline and deliverables. 

  • Develops and maintains client relationship throughout project and ensures addresses any concerns. Acts as single point of escalation throughout entirety of client project within clinical trials. 

  • Coordinates vital internal and external business activities to achieve project goals. Works with cross-functional project teams to ensure all project activities are accurately planned and delivered. 

  • Measure project performance and progress using appropriate tools and techniques. Identifies areas of concern and performs corrective actions which are communicated to all collaborators. 

  • Demonstrates advanced technical capabilities, implementation of standard methodologies, and familiarity with site processes, industry requirements, problem solving, etc. 

  • Supports strategic development of the project management function, including potential for new or expanded business, global initiatives, site processes, etc. 

  • Provides support of business development activities 

  • Manages Scope Change and PO tracking.

Project Management 

  • Structures project(s) in line with client strategy by demonstrating an entrepreneurial approach; optimizes processes to identify needs, defines resources requirements, supervises performance and identifies improvement opportunities. 

  • Develops methods to proactively identify, monitor, and evaluate project challenges and partners with cross functional teams to identify solutions and deliver positive outcomes. Mentors other team members on project resolution. 

  • Pro-actively defines, tracks, and negotiates expenses, budgets, and revisions in response to project achievements and performance. 

  • Extensive understanding of customer contract terms and conditions; skilled in negotiation skills and techniques and coaches others in effective contract management. 

Client Relationship Management 

  • Highly skilled at performing and interpreting comprehensive need analyses which reflect an understanding of the customer's target market and value proposition.  

  • Familiarity of Thermo Fisher's solutions portfolio and industry and capable of articulating how Thermo Fishers' value proposition is superior to competitive offerings.  

 

Technical Knowledge 

  • Demonstrates advanced technical capabilities and expertise in site processes, industry requirements, and problem solving. 

  • Leads project efficiently in different systems to provide accurate forecasting information to core team, leadership and the client. Maintains accountability for individual and team outcomes. 

  • Proactively advances the efficiency and effectiveness of work processes, procedures, and outputs. 

 

Project Management Leadership 

  • Collaborates well, builds effective business relationships and brings new or alternative perspectives forward to overcome difficulty or uncertainty and builds a coalition.  

  • Crafts S.M.A.R.T. objectives and forms a realistic action roadmap with timelines.  

  • Assumes the leadership role on projects as appropriate, leads and supports cross-functional teams to be successful, and strategically plans an effective and efficient timeline to be completed on time.  

 

Key Requirements:  

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific subject area or equivalent   

  • To foster a sense of belonging and connection, remote employees are expected to keep their camera on and participate in video calls both internally and externally, as appropriate. 

 

Years of Experience:  

  • 5+ years of experience in client facing project management within the pharmaceutical and/or life sciences industry preferred; experience with clinical trials preferred but not required 

  • 3+ years experience acceptable if holding an advanced degree
