What we are looking for

Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all.

We are searching for a HW Test Engineer with an interest in complex, highly integrated custom hardware systems. This role is highly hands-on and sits at the multidisciplinary intersection of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering.

This engineer will be supporting the Product Integrity Team which is responsible for design/production validation of the entire autonomous hardware kit including computers, integrated sensor pods, and more.

In this role you will

  • Own HW/SW tests of complex electrical computer systems.

  • Participate in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) and debug efforts.

  • Support modules through environmental and vibration testing and validation as a test infrastructure owner.

Required qualifications

  • Multidisciplinary experience across Firmware/EE/ME; expertise in one, knowledgeable in the other.

  • Working knowledge of test equipment, including thermal chambers, vibe tables, liquid chillers, power supplies, electronic loads, and DAQs.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Systems Engineering.

  • Python experience (automating repetitive tasks, analyzing data, and working within larger testing frameworks).

  • Experience conducting thermal vibe testing

  • Experience working in a Linux environment and with computer networking

For roles based in Mountain View, CA: The salary range for this position is $127,000 - $204,000 per year.

For roles based in Pittsburgh, PA: The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $184,000 per year.

Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
