Clean luxury. Better for you. At Everlane, we believe luxury should be as effortless as it is conscious. We partner with ethical factories, work with premium, sustainably sourced materials, and strive to leave the industry cleaner than we found it. There's still much to do, and we're excited to grow a team of motivated humans ready for the challenge. The journey toward better continues.

The Talent & People Operations team is committed to delivering the best employee experience from the moment they join the company to the time they leave. We put people first by providing our employees with the tools and resources to be their best selves at Everlane.

Reporting into the Head of People,  the Senior Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) will build, grow, support, and engage your client groups. As their key strategic people partner, you will work with your teams to ensure we are scaling our teams effectively while maintaining the culture and the people’s experience in the workplace.

Your day-to-day:

  • Consult with People Leaders, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the People Operations team to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of Team Members, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to People Leaders (coaching, counseling, career development, and progressive discipline).
  • Works closely with Senior Leaders, People Leaders, and Team Members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on department restructures, talent planning, and calibration.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual People Leader coaching needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a dedicated HRBP role — ideally within a consumer, retail, or DTC brand environment.
  • Proven ability to operate as a standalone HR function - comfortable owning the full employee lifecycle without a team beneath you, and resourceful enough to build from the ground up.
  • Deep employee relations expertise, including conducting thorough, unbiased investigations and navigating complex, sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior and executive leadership as a strategic advisor - not just an executor - on org design, talent planning, and workforce decisions.
  • A track record of building and scaling people programs (performance management, manager development, engagement) in a lean, high-growth environment.
  • Strong command of California employment law and HR compliance requirements; experience in a CA-headquartered or CA-majority workforce is a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting both corporate and hourly/retail workforces — the ability to flex your partnership style across very different employee populations.
  • A builder's mentality - you're energized by ambiguity, don't need a playbook handed to you, and take pride in creating structure where little exists.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; you earn trust quickly, handle conflict with maturity, and know when to push back on leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • May need to travel 10-30% annually.
  • Bonus if you have any one of these:
    • Related Majors: Business Administration, Human Resources, & Etc
    • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)
    • Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
    • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
    • Senior SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
