Why Casca?

Casca is building AGI for banking. We’re replacing decades-old legacy systems with AI-native technology that automates 90% of the manual work humans once had to do.

Role Overview

We're looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve the foundational systems that power Casca's AI-driven lending platform. You'll build and maintain the infrastructure that enables our engineering team to ship quickly and reliably—cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and observability systems. You thrive on making other engineers more productive while ensuring our platform remains secure, compliant, and highly available.

This is a hands-on role. You'll write significant code, debug complex distributed systems issues, and drive technical decisions that impact the entire engineering organization.

What You'll Do

  • Own infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK, Terraform or Pulumi) for cloud resources across AWS and Cloudflare.

  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation that enable fast, safe releases across multiple environments.

  • Build and improve observability systems—metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting—that give engineers deep visibility into system behavior and enable rapid incident response.

  • Develop internal tooling and automation that eliminates toil and accelerates developer workflows.

  • Drive reliability improvements: capacity planning, failure mode analysis, disaster recovery, and incident response processes.

  • Collaborate with product engineers to design systems that are operationally sound from day one—balancing speed of delivery with long-term maintainability.

  • Contribute to security and compliance initiatives, ensuring infrastructure meets the requirements of a regulated fintech environment.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE roles, with a track record of building systems that other engineers depend on daily.

  • Strong coding skills in at least one of: Python, Go, TypeScript, or Rust. You write production-quality automation, not just glue scripts.

  • Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and their core services—compute, networking, IAM, managed databases, and storage.

  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CDK, Pulumi) and CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, BuildKite, or similar).

  • Solid understanding of containerization (Docker) and container orchestration concepts, with hands-on experience running production workloads.

  • Experience building and operating observability stacks—you've instrumented systems, built dashboards, and used telemetry data to diagnose production issues.

  • Familiarity with common failure modes in distributed systems and strategies to mitigate them (blast radius control, graceful degradation, rollback mechanisms).

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where you'll need to balance "doing it right" with "shipping it now."

Nice to Have

  • Experience in regulated industries such as fintech or healthcare where security and compliance are first-class concerns.

  • Familiarity with ML pipeline orchestration.

  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures and customer-specific deployment requirements.

  • Contributions to on-call rotations and incident response in high-stakes production environments.

What you'll get:
  • Impact & Ownership: A unique opportunity to shape the future of banking through AI, owning end-to-end product initiatives.

  • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside a talented and passionate team that values continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

  • Competitive Compensation: Includes salary, benefits, and potential equity in a fast-growing startup.

  • Professional Growth: Access to resources and mentorship to expand your skill set, influence strategy, and accelerate your career.

  • Culture of Innovation: We encourage risk-taking, learning from failures, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in fintech.

As an early-stage company building at the frontier of AI, we work with high intensity and commitment. While schedules can vary by role/team, many weeks will demand extra focus, flexibility and time particularly during major launches and high impact sprints. We're seeking those who are aligned to and able to commit to that expectation.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
