About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior IT Systems & Network Administrator to take ownership of Alembic’s corporate IT infrastructure, including our internal datacenter environment, Unifi-based networks, end-user systems, and vendor relationships. This is a hands-on, full-stack IT role—ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and enjoys working across network, systems, and support domains.

You will ensure high availability and security of our internal systems, support engineers and staff across macOS and Linux environments, and scale the infrastructure that powers our internal R&D and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Infrastructure Management

  • Design, configure, and maintain Alembic’s Unifi-based corporate network infrastructure (gateways, switches, access points)

  • Implement VLANs, network segmentation, firewall rules, and access control

  • Monitor and optimize network performance, availability, and security

  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for network architecture

Datacenter & Systems Administration

  • Manage and maintain in office datacenter hardware including NVIDIA GPU and AMD Threadripper servers

  • Oversee power, cooling, cabling, and network infrastructure within the datacenter

  • Monitor system health, perform hardware upgrades, and ensure fault-tolerant operations

  • Administer and optimize Linux-based systems supporting research and engineering workloads

  • Automate operational tasks via scripting (Bash, Python)

macOS End-User Support

  • Provide direct technical support for Mac users, including software, hardware, and application troubleshooting

  • Deploy and manage Mac systems using MDM tools such as Jamf Pro

  • Implement and monitor end-user backup and recovery solutions

  • Maintain internal IT documentation and deliver user onboarding/training sessions as needed

Vendor & Outsourced Support Coordination

  • Manage relationships with outsourced desktop support providers and third-party vendors

  • Set and monitor performance expectations, service levels, and escalation workflows

  • Coordinate internal IT and vendor activities to deliver a seamless support experience

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing Unifi, or similar, wireless networks in corporate settings

  • Hands-on experience administering hardware in datacenter environments

  • Strong background in Linux system administration, including performance tuning and automation

  • Proficiency supporting Mac environments in large organization settings, including MDM and backups

  • Experience coordinating with external IT vendors or outsourced support teams

  • Strong documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Certifications

  • Ubiquiti (Unifi) Certification

  • Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) or similar

  • Apple Certified IT Professional (ACiT) or Jamf Pro Certification

  • Relevant networking/datacenter certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, CCNA)

What You’ll Get

  • Ownership of Alembic’s internal IT and infrastructure footprint

  • The opportunity to influence and scale the backbone of a high-growth, data-driven company

  • A collaborative environment where IT is valued as a key enabler of innovation

  • A culture of autonomy, transparency, and technical excellence

  • Work on cutting-edge technology and solve complex engineering challenges.
