Job Description

The Senior IT Manager – Global Semiconductor R&D Lab IT Support manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for IT services supporting Applied Materials’ global semiconductor R&D Labs and cleanroom environments. This role leads global teams and vendor partners to ensure secure, reliable, and high‑availability Lab IT operations, including MES platforms, equipment automation, and tool integration systems that enable advanced semiconductor R&D.

This position plays a critical role in stabilizing mission‑critical Lab systems, scaling global support models, and aligning IT services with R&D priorities, while maintaining strong governance, security, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead global 24x7 IT support operations for semiconductor R&D Labs across multiple regions and time zones
  • Define and execute the global operating model for Lab IT support, including SLAs, KPIs, escalation paths, and support governance
  • Build, mentor, and manage high‑performing global support teams and strategic vendor partners
  • Own operational support for R&D Lab IT systems, including:
    • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) used in R&D Labs
    • Equipment automation and tool integration platforms
    • Lab applications, data platforms, and metrology systems
  • Provide leadership for IT–OT integration, including secure connectivity between MES, automation systems, and semiconductor Lab tools
  • Drive incident, problem, and change management, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Enforce cybersecurity, access governance, and data protection controls in sensitive R&D Lab environments
  • Support new R&D Lab builds, tool onboarding, automation expansion, and technology transitions, aligned with global IT standards

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership of global, mission‑critical environments
  • Demonstrated experience supporting semiconductor R&D Labs or cleanroom‑based environments
  • Strong experience with:
    • MES platforms in semiconductor labs or R&D environments
    • Equipment automation, tool connectivity, and data acquisition systems
    • Metrology and inspection systems
    • IT–OT convergence and secure architectures
  • Proven ability to lead global teams, influence senior stakeholders, and manage vendors
  • Strong communication, decision‑making, and cross‑functional leadership skills

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
