The Senior Manager, Public Relations leads the company's earned media strategy and builds its visibility across press, industry conversations, and executive thought leadership platforms. The role also leads GoodLeap's media relations and serves as the primary day-to-day contact for journalists and earned media opportunities—owning journalist relationships, executive visibility, press opportunities, awards, speaking engagements, and reputation management.
The Senior PR Manager will help define how GoodLeap shows up in the market, identifying the stories that differentiate the company and translating business priorities into compelling narratives that influence customers, partners, policymakers, and the broader industry.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    Media Strategy, Planning & Announcements
    ● Develop and execute GoodLeap's annual earned media strategy, including a proactive media plan, monthly pitch calendar, and quarterly announcement cadence aligned to company priorities, product launches, and business objectives.
    ● Partner closely with Strategic Communications to translate company messaging into compelling earned media opportunities and external storytelling.
    ● Draft and manage press releases and external announcements in close partnership with Strategic Communications on messaging and press release development, and Product Marketing on launch planning and timing.
    ● Lead PR strategy and execution for major company announcements, product launches, partnerships, research reports, customer stories, and corporate milestones.
    Media Relations, Outreach & Partnerships
    ● Lead proactive media outreach by identifying compelling story opportunities, developing strategic pitches, and securing meaningful earned coverage across business, consumer, technology, financial, sustainability, and trade publications.
    ● Build and maintain strong relationships with agencies, journalists, editors, producers, and industry influencers while serving as GoodLeap's primary day-to-day media contact.
    ● Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and breaking news to identify rapid response opportunities, support reputation management, and keep leadership informed of relevant developments.
    ● Build strong cross-functional relationships across Product Marketing, Public Affairs, Product, Legal, Sales, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership to proactively identify newsworthy stories and media opportunities.
    ● Support Public Affairs through media outreach related to policy issues, legislative developments, op-ed placement, and public policy thought leadership while partnering on issues management and reputation strategy.
    Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership
    ● Lead executive media relations by developing briefing materials, interview preparation, messaging, and talking points for media interviews, podcasts, speaking engagements, and executive visibility opportunities.
    ● Own GoodLeap's earned content calendar, developing or managing contributed articles, bylines, executive commentary, and thought leadership opportunities that elevate executive visibility and increase share of voice.
    ● Partner with the Senior Manager of Strategic Communications on awards and speaking programs by maintaining an annual calendar, identifying opportunities, writing submissions, and coordinating executive participation, targeting approximately 7–10 strategic speaking opportunities and 7–10 award submissions annually.
    PR Operations & Measurement
    ● Establish scalable PR processes, reporting, and best practices.
    ● Measure and report on PR performance, including earned media quality and volume, share of voice, message pull-through, executive visibility, awards, speaking engagements, and business impact.
    ● Manage external agency relationships, PR tools, media databases, monitoring platforms, wire services, reporting dashboards, editorial calendars, and budgets.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    ● 7+ years of experience in public relations, either in-house or at an agency, with a proven track record of leading comprehensive earned media programs.
    ● Demonstrated success securing earned media across national, regional, business, technology, consumer, financial, sustainability, and trade publications.
    ● Strong existing relationships with journalists across business, technology, finance, sustainability, or consumer media preferred.
    ● Experience managing a PR function from strategy through execution, reporting, and operations.
    ● Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, including experience developing press releases, media pitches, executive briefing materials, contributed articles, op-eds, and messaging documents.
    ● Demonstrated experience building executive visibility through media placements, thought leadership, speaking engagements, and industry awards.
    ● Strong news judgment with the ability to translate complex technologies, financial products, or regulated industries into clear, compelling stories that resonate with media and external audiences.
    ● Experience managing sensitive media situations, crisis communications, and reputation management with sound judgment and professionalism.
    ● Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
    ● Confidence working directly with executives and cross-functional leaders, building alignment, navigating approvals, and driving execution across multiple stakeholders.
    ● Experience using data and analytics to measure PR performance, optimize strategy, and demonstrate business impact.
    ● Background in fintech, financial services, SaaS, home services, energy, sustainability, or another regulated industry is preferred.

Compensation: $120,000 - $160,000 annually
