Senior Manager of Solutions Engineering
- San Francisco, CA (hybrid, 3 days in person)
- Full-time

We reimburse eligible relocation expenses (up to $20k) for candidates relocating from outside the bay area.
Marketing teams spend $1.5 trillion a year on various channels and programs. And yet most of those capital allocation decisions are guided by gut feel, broken attribution, and backward-looking metrics.
Paramark helps them optimize spend across all their channels and programs. There are proven scientific ways to do this, but they are poorly understood and practiced by only a tiny fraction of teams. Companies waste millions on campaigns that don’t work, while failing to invest in critical long-term initiatives simply because they’re harder to measure. Most are sorely lacking in both measurement and experimentation capability.
We’re fixing this by creating a system of action that teams use to understand, to forecast the impact of their investments, and to experiment with new ideas. The opportunity is huge: 100k+ mid-market businesses worldwide, spending $1.5T on marketing annually, with a large chunk of that going to waste. Our target customer spends between $10M and $100M on Marketing annually.
We founded the company in 2023 and have strong traction. Our customers include both consumer and business brands like Square, Chime, Ramp, Rippling, Speak, Toast, and many more.
We work 3-5 days a week from our office in San Francisco. We truly believe the best results come from in-person collaboration, but we also want to strike the right balance and give everyone the flexibility they need to enjoy life outside of the office. Our existing team respects the need to not have work be your life, but understands the importance of scaling a new business in a collaborative environment.
We’ve raised $8M from Greylock and several CXO-level advisors and angels from companies like Open AI, Dropbox, Salesforce, Asana, and P&G.

The opportunity
At Paramark, solutions engineering is a blend of applied ML, python, and SQL. The solutions engineering team owns and operates our customer-facing ML workflows and produces the insights our customers rely on.
- You’ll manage and develop a team of solutions engineers. This team owns the hands-on ML for our customers.
- The team’s purpose is to delight our customers with quality, timely analyses that help them find sustainable ways to make money. It’s also a direct revenue driver for the business.
- You’ll collaborate with our data science, software engineering, and growth advisory teams in this role.
- The team has 5 people now and over the course of this year, you’ll hire another 3-5 people, or more. We’re growing the solutions engineering area as quickly as we can.
- You’ll report to the CTO, Pete, who is currently leading the team directly.
Your role
- Setting direction
- You will become a domain expert in the ML workflows your team performs. You will use this expertise as a prime lever for impact. The technical challenges are some of the biggest in this role.
- You drive efficiencies in your team to improve their throughput. These take many forms, including building tools, process improvements, and continuous learning and development.
- You deeply understand and address the inefficiencies and pain points your team experiences.
- You advocate for product improvements to accelerate your team.
- You seek out and act upon feedback from the data science and growth advisory teams.
- Results
- You ensure that your teams produce high-quality and timely analyses for our customers. You are always tuning your teams to produce better and faster results. You understand that this effort will never be done.
- You develop your team’s self-organizing capabilities and continually improve its processes.
- You partner with our Data Science team to improve our ML workflows and to train the solutions engineering team members accordingly.
- You collaborate with our Growth Advisory team to delight customers.
- Talent
- You help your team members achieve their career goals while simultaneously hitting your team’s goals, without sacrificing one for the other.
- You don’t lose sight of events on the ground with your teams. You deliver helpful feedback in real time.
- You communicate high expectations to your team members and hold them accountable for the same.
- You take responsibility for hitting your hiring goals without sacrificing quality or diversity.
- Culture and values
- You consistently demonstrate strong alignment with our values and influence others to do the same (Purpose, Mission, and Values).
You
Your experience and skills
- 6+ years of experience in a technical domain, with 2+ years as a manager. You will be the first manager we’ve hired in the technical team, and it’s important that you’ve already had a chance to learn management. As an early-stage startup, our room for error is small.
- You’ve worked at a startup with fewer than ~100 people. You’ll rely on this experience when navigating the ambiguity in your role. You’re skilled at managing ambiguity, and it doesn’t prevent you from getting things done.
- High attention to detail. You understand what it takes to produce high quality results in complex situations, and you know how to develop this attribute across your team.
- Fluent in python and SQL. This is the baseline technical requirement for the individual contributors you will be managing.
- Some experience with causal inference, machine learning, regression analysis, or A/B testing. We will help you build on this foundation to become an expert in our machine learning workflows.
Your interests
- Growing as a manager and as a leader. You understand that this is never done and that you will learn from everyone you meet at Paramark, even our most junior team members.
- Learning marketing, data science, and machine learning. You’ll have a lot to learn, and you’ll be excited about it.
- Creating happy customers. Your choices will be guided by a passion to make our customers happy.
- Creating a warm and welcoming company culture. Building a great product is only the beginning for us. We’re equally passionate about building a company that we still want to work at 10 years from now, and you will play a role in making this happen.
Benefits and culture
- Many of us have kids, family lives, and health problems to manage. We don’t think early stage startup life requires 18 hour days, or even 12 hour days. We’re intent on building a different kind of culture, one that is truly sustainable. That means reasonable working hours (we’re out of the office before 6), taking a break when we need it, and checking in with each other. Our Purpose, Mission, and Values guide us.
- Simple Time off policy : all federal holidays plus 4 weeks of PTO per year. Health comes first, and everyone needs to take time off to recharge and rejuvenate.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with 100% of employee premiums / 50% of family premiums covered.
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $161,100 – $213,300 per year.
