Senior Manager, Technical Sourcing (Substrates)

Job Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Technical Sourcing Manager - IC Substrates to lead sourcing strategy for advanced semiconductor substrates supporting current and next-generation products.
You will work at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and business strategy, partnering with Packaging Engineering, Silicon Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Supply Chain.
This role owns strategic relationships with leading IC substrate suppliers and is responsible for ensuring the technology, capacity, cost, and supply assurance required to support the product roadmap.
Responsibilities

• Own global sourcing strategy for advanced IC substrates, from early product development through high-volume manufacturing.
• Partner with Engineering to align substrate technologies and supplier capabilities with future product and packaging roadmaps.
• Evaluate and influence supplier roadmaps across advanced substrate architectures, fine line/space, high-layer-count, large body sizes, and heterogeneous integration.
• Lead supplier selection and develop and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic substrate partners.
• Negotiate pricing, NRE, capacity, technology development, long-term supply agreements, and strategic capital commitments.
• Develop should-cost and market analyses to drive competitive cost structures and sourcing decisions.
• Secure manufacturing capacity ahead of major product ramps and mitigate supplier, materials, and geographic supply risks.
• Develop alternative suppliers to improve competition, technology access, and supply resilience.
• Monitor substrate market dynamics, technology trends, supplier investments, and industry capacity.
• Present sourcing strategies, supplier recommendations, and key risks to senior leadership.

Required Skills and Experience

• 10+ years of experience in semiconductors, IC substrates, semiconductor packaging, technical sourcing, or a related field.
• Strong technical understanding of FC-BGA substrates and advanced semiconductor packaging.
• Experience working with substrate manufacturing processes, materials, technology roadmaps, capacity, yield, and cost drivers.
• Demonstrated success leading complex negotiations and strategic relationships with global technology suppliers.
• Experience supporting semiconductor products from development through qualification and volume production.
• Ability to translate complex technical requirements into sourcing and supplier strategies.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to travel internationally.

"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience

• Experience sourcing substrates for AI, high-performance computing, networking, or data center products.
• Experience with 2.5D/3D packaging, heterogeneous integration, advanced interposers.
• Experience developing IC substrate should-cost models.
• Experience negotiating long-term capacity agreements, capital investments, or strategic prepayments.
• Established relationships with leading global IC substrate suppliers.

Additional Information
Please note that no relocation package is available for this role.

Salary Range:
$161,500-$218,500 per year
