About Veev

Veev is leading the transformation of the construction industry with an innovative approach to modular home construction. Veev’s prefabricated closed-panel systems allow homes to be assembled efficiently on-site while delivering a more sustainable and higher-quality final product than traditional construction. As a new subsidiary of Lennar, Veev leverages the strength and scale of its parent company while maintaining the speed and disruptive approach of its roots as a Silicon Valley-based startup. Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multidisciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.

This role plays a key part in advancing the mission at Veev by supporting production with new equipment solutions and working to improve safety and processes efficiency by improving existing factory infrastructure. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, your work will directly support Veev’s ability to scale operations and deliver innovative, high-quality housing solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Veev, you will be a key part of a small, agile, well-resourced, and innovative Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team. The ME team at Veev has the broad mission of supporting the production team as a complement to the Process Engineering, Production Quality, EHS, R&D and Maintenance teams. This role requires a project leader who is ready and able to collaborate cross-functionally to bring high-quality equipment solutions to a variety of production needs. The successful candidate will be comfortable with an even mix of office-work (CAD, project management, purchasing, research, data gathering and analysis, etc.) and work on the factory floor (understanding the day-to-day tasks of our assemblers and machine-operators, equipment trials, modification, and commissioning, hands-on problem-solving to keep the production line running, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Own capex projects from concept to handover; act as project manager, design equipment, guide internal production or outsourcing, coordinate commissioning and handover to process engineering and maintenance teams for use in production.
  • Lead equipment, process, and material handling continuous improvement efforts; work across Planning, Production, Logistics, Maintenance, EHS, Product Design, Finance and Legal departments to improve the operational efficacy of the organization.
  • Manage the facility layout; create layout content as equipment enters, leaves and moves around the facility, integrate layouts from other teams into the central layout and maintain consistent standards.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies

  • Strong foundation in mechanical design and drafting principles, including applicable industry standards.
  • Experience with parametric modeling (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).
  • Working knowledge of residential architectural systems design.
  • Ability to interpret and create technical drawings for manufacturing and installation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and production workflows, with the ability to design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

Education & Experience:

  • B.Sc. in Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant field (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Civil, etc.) or 4+ years equivalent, relevant experience
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Equipment Engineer, Process Engineer or similar (11-14 years for non-degreed applicants)

Nice-to-Have Skills and Competencies

These skills, competencies, and qualifications would set you, as a candidate, apart but are not required for the role.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience/coursework
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP), Autodesk Certified User/Professional (ACU/ACP) or equivalent proficiency.
  • Experience in or working knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes; CNC milling, roll-forming, welding, cutting/sawing, punching, drilling
  • 3D-printing and Design for Additive Manufacturing experience or training
  • Six-Sigma Certification or equivalent experience
  • Residential or Commercial building trades experience

Compensation

Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $150,000 - $180,000 annually for Hayward, CA.
