About SF MOTORS, INC. (dba SERES)

SF Motors is building the next generation of intelligent robotic systems that combine advanced mobility, autonomy, and human-like adaptability. Our mission is to revolutionize how machines move, perceive, and interact in complex environments by integrating control engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning at every level of design.

This position is based onsite at our Milpitas, CA office and requires regular in-person attendance.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and validation of advanced mechanical systems from concept through production. This role requires at least 5 years of relevant industry experience, expertise in ANSYS finite element analysis (FEA), and fluency in English and Chinese. You will take technical ownership of mechanical designs, resolve complex engineering challenges, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of mechanical components and assemblies, balancing performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Create and review 3D models and production drawings using CATIA or an equivalent CAD platform; apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Perform structural and modal analyses using ANSYS FEA; define material properties, loads, contacts, and boundary conditions, and assess mesh convergence.
  • Verify simulation results using engineering calculations and validate them against physical tests; document assumptions, limitations, and design recommendations.
  • Select materials and manufacturing processes; apply design for manufacturability and assembly to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Lead prototype builds, test planning, design validation, and root cause investigations; implement corrective actions and verify their effectiveness.
  • Lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with suppliers and internal teams, and manage design releases and engineering change documentation.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience in mechanical design and product development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ANSYS FEA, including model preparation, meshing, solver setup, interpretation of results, and validation.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings; CATIA preferred, with equivalent CAD experience considered.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials, GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop and deliver mechanical designs, resolve technical issues, and clearly communicate engineering decisions across teams.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with nonlinear contact analysis, fatigue assessment, or thermal stress analysis in ANSYS.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and supporting product launches, supplier reviews, or manufacturing issue resolution.

Pay Range: $120,000-$160,000 per year. The actual base salary offered will depend on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job-related considerations. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation and benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and verification of employment authorization will be required at the time of hire.
