Senior Motion Designer

Please Note: This is a 100% in-office position based out of our HQ office in NYC.

The In-house Design Studio is responsible for creating high-quality, best-in-class design materials, brand identities, and campaigns for our agents; evolving and refining the Compass brand; and partnering with other internal teams to maintain and raise creative excellence throughout the company.

Real estate is visual, emotional, and fast-moving — and at Compass, motion design is how we make technology feel human. Motion powers product launches, UI animation, and brand campaigns, turning static screens and strategic ideas into compelling visual narratives.

In this role, you’ll shape how agents, employees, and consumers experience Compass technology. You’ll transform product releases into engaging moments, translate complex UX flows into clear animations, and build scalable motion tools that help agents market themselves and their listings.

At Compass You Will:

• Lead Motion Strategy & Own the Narrative: Spearhead high-impact product launch and brand campaign videos. You will take projects from initial concept, research, and storyboarding all the way through to final render and compositing. You own the narrative from start to finish, generating vital excitement around new features and releases.

• Bring UI to Life: Extrapolate UX/UI designs from Figma into meaningful, story-driven animations that make complex interactions and user flows immediately clear to our audience.
• Build Scalable Systems: Champion operational excellence by developing robust, scalable motion templates and dynamic assets that agents can use to market themselves and their listings at scale.
• Thrive in the Pace: Excel in a fast-paced environment where stunning aesthetics and crystal-clear communication must coexist, executing high-quality work without ever compromising on the details.

• Experience: 4–5+ years as a Motion Designer with a portfolio of premium brand or product storytelling work. You are a hands-on creator who builds files, templates, and motion systems.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in After Effects (animation, compositing, templates) and Cinema 4D (modeling, lighting, animation).
• Communication: Ability to present ideas clearly, communicate motion concepts to non-technical partners, and drive cross-functional alignment.
• Design Excellence: Strong storytelling, editing, and design fundamentals with proficiency in Premiere, Figma, typography, composition, and branding.
• AI Exploration: Interest in generative AI tools (e.g., Midjourney, Runway, DALL-E) for concepting, storyboarding, and asset creation.
• Agility: Ability to iterate quickly and manage high-volume deadlines while maintaining quality.

The salary pay range for this position is a base pay of $90,000 - $103,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits.
