Job Description:
Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring for the following role in Cambridge, MA (multiple openings): Senior Network Operations Engineer Diagnosing and solving difficult content delivery and networking challenges; Working on deployment, configuration, operationalization, and maintenance of Akamai networks and products; Identifying and implementing process improvements along with an excellent troubleshooting mindset to resolve complex technical issues; Escalating internally and externally to resolve mapping issues, monitor quality of Akamai mapping network; Developing alerts and dashboards that enable monitoring of network/mapping issues; Collaborating on traffic optimization and network design; Providing technical and product support for customer issues and handling the SME role during internal technical incidents; Developing and maintaining tools, documentation, and procedures to support the operation of a large scale network infrastructure. Required Qualification:
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, Telecommunication Networks, or Telecommunications Engineering, plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.  
Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, Telecommunication Networks, or Telecommunications Engineering, plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Must have: Two (2) years of experience with the following: GSM/CDMA/LTE network operations and maintenance; transmission systems including STM 1-4, CPAN, UHF, and MW; network troubleshooting and fault analysis; routing, signaling, and data communications protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP; monitoring network traffic and capacity management; and preparing and updating technical documentation for compliance.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $138382-$181300 /year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
