Lead design for Lyft's Rider Core Experience, focusing on intuitive app experiences that enhance rider conversion and retention while guiding a team of designers.

At Lyft, our goal is to serve our riders by connecting them to the people, places, and communities that matter most—through transportation that's thoughtful, reliable, and built around real life. To do this, we start in our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization.

We're looking for a talented Product Designer to help shape the Lyft Rider experience. As part of the Rider Core Experience team, you'll design high-impact app experiences that are central to Lyft's growth and success. You'll drive design execution across initiatives focused on rider conversion, retention, and service excellence within the Lyft app—partnering closely with product, engineering, and research to bring these experiences to life.

This role is for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, rapidly prototypes concepts, and delivers polished work that balances user needs with business goals. You'll contribute to experiences that set new industry standards, helping Lyft grow by turning everyday riders into loyal customers.

We're looking for someone who champions a customer-first mindset and is experienced across the full product design lifecycle—from shaping early ideas to refining the details that ship. You'll use your craft, systems thinking, and product intuition to deliver high-quality work across key parts of the Rider experience.

The opportunity

As a Product Designer on Lyft's Core Rider team, you'll shape how riders discover, evaluate, and choose between different ride options across the Lyft app. This role sits within our Offerings experience; where pricing, service differentiation, personalization, and feedback signals come together to help riders find the right ride for every moment.

We're looking for a designer who embraces complexity and sees problems as opportunities. You'll identify friction points in the ride selection and service experience, understand rider expectations, and design intuitive, trustworthy experiences that turn everyday transportation decisions into long-term loyalty. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who challenges existing patterns with strong user empathy and thrives on fast-moving, cross-functional teams.

You'll prototype and test new concepts, validate hypotheses with data and research, and iterate based on real-world insights, while partnering with product, engineering, data science, and research to deliver a clear design vision. This role offers the opportunity to own meaningful workstreams, collaborate with senior designers, and see your work ship at scale across millions of riders.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of rider experiences across key Offerings initiatives, from concept through delivery
  • Develop empathy for user needs through research, data analysis, and close partnership with UXR
  • Generate, test, and iterate on concepts, embracing experimentation and learning from outcomes
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and researchers to align on goals and deliver high-quality experiences
  • Navigate between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, delivering polished work under real constraints
  • Connect design decisions to business outcomes, understanding how your work drives key metrics
Experience
  • 4+ years of experience working in UX, UI, or HCI-related fields with experience on web and mobile design
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Engineers, Product Managers, and Researchers
  • Experience designing products for mobile platforms
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with user research methods and analysis
  • Expertise with Figma and prototyping tools (Ai tools)
  • Excellence in design craft with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative team
  • Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Even if you don't directly have the skills above, please consider applying. We know talent takes many different shapes.
