Develop Health is on a mission to use AI to radically accelerate access to life-saving medications. By automating complex, manual healthcare processes—like benefit verification and prior authorization— we've been growing rapidly and over the past couple of years have helped over 2.5 million patients!

We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.

About The Role

We're hiring a Senior Product Engineer to turn ambiguous, high-impact healthcare problems into simple products and ship them end to end.

This is a hands-on, full-stack role spanning problem definition, implementation, launch, and production validation. You'll build Python services and APIs, TypeScript and React interfaces, integrations, and AI-powered workflows, working directly with our Product, AI, and Operations teams and the people who use what you build.

AI is part of how we work. You'll use coding agents to investigate systems and accelerate implementation while retaining ownership of the product behavior, technical decisions, testing, and production outcome.

What You'll Do — Impact In Your First 3–6 Months
  • Work with users and internal stakeholders to define a meaningful problem, the smallest useful solution, and observable success signals.

  • Ship full-stack product features across backend services, user interfaces, data models, integrations, and workflow infrastructure.

  • Integrate AI capabilities where they improve the workflow, with the reliability and fallbacks required for production healthcare software.

  • Make pragmatic product and technical trade-offs, leaving enough context for teammates and agents to execute confidently.

  • Build testing, observability, rollout safety, and user feedback into the work, then iterate until the feature produces the intended outcome.

What You'll Own — Driving Growth Beyond 6 Months
  • Own major product surfaces and the customer or operational outcomes they support.

  • Shape product direction using customer evidence, operational data, and technical constraints.

  • Scale the architecture and API layer as our products, integrations, and transaction volume grow.

  • Raise the team's bar for product shaping and engineering quality, and mentor other engineers.

What You'll Bring On Day 1
  • Production full-stack experience. You have at least 3 years of experience building and shipping software that real users depend on.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals. You're effective in Python and a modern typed frontend stack, and can ramp quickly on TypeScript and React.

  • End-to-end product ownership. You're excited to start with an ambiguous problem, work with users to shape the right solution, and carry it through implementation and a measured result.

  • User-facing craft. You care whether a complex workflow feels clear and trustworthy, as well as whether the system is technically sound.

  • AI-native execution. Coding agents materially change how you investigate and build, and you verify their output rather than delegating judgment.

  • Clear communication. You work precisely with engineers, product partners, operators, and customers.

What You'll Need To Learn Quickly
  • How benefit verification and prior authorization work across providers, pharmacies, payers, and pharmacy benefit managers.

  • Where medication-access workflows break and how those failures affect patients, clinical teams, and operations.

  • How our product, workflow, and AI systems interact within healthcare data and reliability constraints.

  • How customers and internal teams evaluate success across turnaround time, accuracy, approval outcomes, and operational effort.

Bonus Points
  • Experience building AI-powered or automation-heavy products in production.

  • Experience with healthcare, clinical workflows, EHRs, payers, pharmacies, or another regulated domain.

  • Early-stage startup experience or evidence that you thrive with high ownership and limited structure.

  • Experience building workflow products, data-heavy interfaces, or third-party integrations.

What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary plus meaningful early-stage equity.

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage; flexible PTO.

  • A high-end workstation and tooling budget, including the AI tools that help you do your best work.

  • Direct ownership of products that improve access to medication for hundreds of thousands of patients every month.

If you're excited to combine product judgment, full-stack engineering, and AI-native execution to improve access to care, we'd love to hear from you!
