About the Opportunity

Our growing product organization is looking for a Senior Product Manager who thrives at the intersection of platform strategy, cost efficiency, and client experience in regulated industries.

We support enterprise clients in financial services and healthcare with complex, compliance-heavy composition and communication workflows. We currently rely on a mix of in-house platforms and vendor solutions to meet these needs, and we are ready to invest in getting this right. You will lead a structured evaluation of our composition landscape, make a clear build vs. buy vs. enhance recommendation, and own the execution of that strategy.

This is a high-visibility role with executive sponsorship and real financial impact. You will report directly to the Director of Product Management.

What You'll Own

Platform Assessment & Rationalization

  • Evaluate in-house composition and document generation platforms alongside our current vendor CCM solution
  • Map capabilities, technical debt, integration complexity, and total cost of ownership across all systems
  • Identify gaps, redundancies, and consolidation opportunities across client segments

Build vs. Buy vs. Enhance Recommendation

  • Develop a financial model comparing continued vendor investment against internal platform development or enhancement
  • Define a clear target-state architecture for CCM capability
  • Build the business case and deliver a recommendation with executive alignment

CCM Implementation & Roadmap

  • Translate the approved strategy into a phased, prioritized roadmap
  • Own delivery milestones working cross-functionally with engineering, architecture, compliance, and client teams
  • Define success metrics tied to cost efficiency, scalability, and client experience

Domain-Led Product Strategy

  • Bring strong understanding of the retirement and financial services ecosystem including plan sponsors, recordkeepers, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure solutions support dynamic composition, personalization, and compliance-heavy content workflows
  • Stay close to enterprise client needs throughout evaluation and implementation

Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Partner with enterprise clients to understand composition workflows, compliance requirements, and future state needs
  • Work with engineering and architecture to validate feasibility and risk
  • Influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across product, engineering, and business teams

Required Experience

  • 8 to 10+ years in product management, product strategy, or platform leadership
  • Proven experience evaluating or rationalizing vendor solutions, with demonstrated cost and efficiency outcomes
  • Strong understanding of composition, document generation, CCM, or omnichannel delivery platforms
  • Experience in retirement, defined contribution, insurance, or wealth management
  • Track record working in highly regulated environments with compliance-heavy content workflows
  • Ability to build financial models and present strategic recommendations to senior leadership
Preferred Experience
  • Hands-on experience with CCM or dynamic composition platforms
  • Exposure to recordkeeping systems, plan administration, or participant communications
  • Experience supporting large enterprise clients through platform transitions
  • Familiarity with AI-driven automation in content generation or QA workflows
  • Experience advising or influencing product teams without formal management authority
Key Traits
  • A systems thinker who can evaluate a platform landscape at a strategic level and still engage at the capability level
  • Financially literate and comfortable owning a cost-efficiency mandate, not just a feature roadmap
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess tradeoffs and make a clear recommendation even under ambiguity
  • A confident communicator with executive presence who can drive alignment across teams with competing priorities
  • Comfortable working in legacy environments where the path forward requires investigation, not just execution
What Success Looks Like

You have built a clear view of our composition platform landscape, delivered a recommendation the organization can act on with confidence, and are leading execution with measurable impact on cost efficiency and client experience.

Why You'll Love This Role

You will own a problem that has a real dollar figure attached to it, along with the authority to solve it. This is not a role where strategy documents sit in a drawer. You will make a recommendation, secure alignment, and build it.

You will work across two of the most regulated industries in the world, financial services and healthcare, where the stakes for getting communications right are real and the work has direct impact on end clients.

You will have the backing of a mission-driven organization that has served regulated markets for decades, with the infrastructure, client relationships, and institutional knowledge to support what you are building.

Compensation & Benefits

We understand that your skills deserve recognition. That is why we offer a competitive base pay scale ranging from $140,000 to $175,000 CAN, based on experience and expertise. Toppan Merrill also offers an annual company performance-based incentive in addition to base pay. Please note that actual salaries may vary within, above, or below this range based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location.

Toppan Merrill strives to provide our employees and loved ones with competitive benefits including:

  • Enhanced Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance for employees and dependents
  • Employer Contribution to retirement plan
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick, community involvement, bereavement, jury duty, and holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid community involvement/volunteer days
  • Wellness Resources and Employee Assistance Programming

Toppan Merrill is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Qualified individuals, including qualified women, minorities, individuals with disabilities and veterans, are encouraged to apply.
