About Rec

At Rec (rec.us), we're reimagining how the world plays, trains, competes, explores and gets outside. Our mission is to empower the entire recreation community to thrive, and our vision is bold: power recreation worldwide.

Booking a tennis court? Signing your kid up for swim lessons? Trying to find an open rec league? It shouldn't feel like filing your taxes. We're partnering with parks & rec departments, golf courses, campgrounds, gyms and more to transform a $105B industry stuck in the Stone Age.

We're not just putting recreation online—we're redesigning it from the ground up, for the mobile-first, AI-powered world we live in.

Our AI Strategy

Rec is the system of record for recreation. Every registration, booking, program, permit, and payment flows through our platform. That's a uniquely powerful position, and we intend to use it.

Being the system of record means we sit on the richest, most structured dataset in recreation. That creates a compounding AI advantage: the more facilities, programs, and communities run on Rec, the smarter our platform becomes for our departments across scheduling, customer support, demand forecasting, and beyond.

Here's where we're going:

  • Auto-scheduling entire recreation departments based on facility availability, staff capacity, and historical demand

  • AI-assisted registration flows that reduce drop-off and surface the right programs to the right families

  • Intelligent staff tools that turn messy operations data into clear recommendations — cutting admin work, surfacing insights

  • Agents that handle the manual workflows (think — refunds, answer repeat questions, chasing down documents, reviewing forms etc), saving staff hundreds of hours

This isn't AI for AI's sake. We use it where it creates real leverage — for the staff managing facilities and the communities they serve. The PMs who thrive here will help us figure out exactly where that leverage is.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (PM, founder, or equivalent).

  • Strong communicator and relationship-builder across all levels of an org.

  • Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments — you find the signal in the noise.

  • A Simplifier. You distill thorny problems into elegant, high-impact solutions.

  • A proven executor. You've shipped a wide variety of features across multiple launches and know how to rally a team under tight deadlines.

  • Genuinely curious about AI. You're already using AI tools in your workflow — not because someone told you to, but because you're the kind of person who explores new tools and builds new habits when they create real leverage.

  • Excited about the system-of-record opportunity. You understand what it means to own the data layer in a vertical, and you're energized by the AI surface that unlocks.

Our Values
  • Be Relentless. Move fast. Own it. Ship real value early and often.

  • Win Together. Speak up, go beyond the boundaries of your role. That's how we win.

  • Take Pride. Treat this like it's yours — because it is.

Pay & Benefits
  • Compensation: $140,000–$200,000 base + meaningful equity (final offer will be based on your background, experience and skillset)

  • Benefits: Flexible PTO, top-tier health/dental/vision, and a 401(k) plan to support your future.

  • Work location: We're building a team that works together in person at our downtown San Francisco office. If you're Bay Area-based, you'll be in the office most days, because that's where the momentum, collaboration, and magic really happen. But we're also human. Need remote days while traveling? Want to spend a week with family on the East Coast? Totally fine. We trust you to balance real life with real impact.

Ready to build something real? Something fun? Something big? We're ready for you.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta

  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
