Senior Product Marketing ManagerThe Company You'll Join

Amperon is where energy data meets AI: the forecasting company of the energy transition. Power and utility companies rely on our data infrastructure and forecasting models to keep the grid reliable, run their assets economically, and decarbonize faster. Our customers (utilities, generators, traders, and retailers) make decisions worth millions of dollars every day off our forecasts. We have offices in Texas and are a remote-first company.

Our Strategy

We are modernizing the data and AI stack the grid runs on: improving reliability, optimizing asset economics, and accelerating decarbonization for grid operators, asset owners, and the people they serve. We are moving from best-in-class forecasts to the workflow platform energy companies run on, the system their teams act in every day, and we want you to help us get there.

About The Role

Product Marketing is how a technical, skeptical buyer comes to trust what we sell. This role owns how we position the product, how we equip Sales to win with it, and how launches reach the market.

This is a senior individual-contributor seat, reporting into Product. You own the work and do it yourself, from strategy down to the collateral and docs, partnering closely with Sales, Product, Marketing and Data Science rather than managing a team. You own product marketing globally from day one, across our US and EMEA motions.

We hire for the person, not the résumé checklist. We would rather bring on a sharp operator and teach them the energy markets than hold out for someone who looks perfect on paper.

You'll be
  • Owning positioning and market intelligence. The messaging a technical buyer trusts as we shift from forecasting vendor to workflow platform, our ICP and market sizing, competitive intelligence, and the win/loss that feeds it all back into the story.
  • Arming Sales to win. The enablement program, the collateral, and a customer proof engine of case studies and references the field can sell with.
  • Owning launches end to end. Launch strategy, the weekly cross-functional GTM orchestration, and helping Product and Commercial agree on what a launch needs before it ships.
  • Constantly monitoring product-market-fit. Evaluating pipeline, Closed Won and Closed Lost deals to understand what differentiators excel and feeding that back to the rest of the Product team to inform roadmap decisions.
  • Collaborating across multiple teams. You’ll be the face of the Product team, interacting directly with Marketing to ensure success of their campaigns, Sales to enable their field success, and the Product/Data Science team to understand the technical details of what we’re building and translating it into market-facing and sales-facing product docs.
  • Doing the hands-on work yourself. The campaign content, the docs and the enablement delivery.
What Success Looks Like

Your first 90 days

  • You know our customers, our product, the market and your field partners.
  • You have ridden real deals and can name where we win, where we lose and why.
  • Sales trusts your read on our positioning and the competitive landscape.

In your first 12 months

  • A positioning refresh grounded in win/loss that reps actually use and that shows up in the win rate.
  • A competitive program in active use, with a competitor you can name that you neutralized.
  • The customer proof engine running, with fresh case studies and references the field actually uses.
  • A major launch you took to market end to end, with the pipeline to show for it.
  • A measurable lift in win rate, with the positioning, enablement and proof behind it that you can point to.
We Think This Role Would Be A Great Fit If You Have
  • Seven or more years in product marketing, hands-on, including time carrying weight next to Sales in deals.
  • A track record taking products to market: launch strategy and the go-to-market plan behind them.
  • Built positioning and competitive programs that reps actually used.
  • The range to go deep on a technical product with an engineer and then pivot to a sharp buyer conversation with a VP of Trading.
  • Comfort marketing across regions. Familiarity with European energy markets is a strong plus given you own EMEA from day one.
  • Comfort operating solo: happy to set the strategy and then build the collateral, enablement and docs yourself.
  • Trust with a Sales org. Your AEs would pull you into their hardest deals by name.
  • Fluency using AI tools like Claude to work faster across everything you own.
  • Energy or electricity-markets background is a strong plus. We will teach the domain to the right operator, but between two equally strong candidates the one who already knows energy markets wins.
Benefits & Perks

While we are serious about our company's culture, we aren't going to force "culture" to prove that we are cool and fun. Amperon is a company filled with smart, genuinely nice individuals who are passionate about data science, energy and working together to build a product that can have a lasting impact on our planet.

  • Competitive salary plus stock option package.
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Family planning benefits through Carrot which includes IVF plus preservation treatments, adoption and gender affirming care
  • Annual company retreat. We still believe human interaction is a good thing
  • 401(k) - we offer it, though we don't currently match contributions
  • Flexible PTO policy, take what you need when you need it
  • Remote first work environment

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
