About the role

The Senior QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for testing a high-load payment gateway that handles real transactions. The role involves working with both sandbox and production environments, creating and managing test requests independently, and overseeing the gateway project lifecycle. The engineer will develop automated API and Web tests, debug issues using logs and HTTP traffic, and write clear bug reports while understanding related artifacts. The position also includes testing protocol-level audit requests for PCI DSS compliance and ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of a system processing a large volume of payments. Close collaboration with developers, the team, and external payment partners is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement testing strategies for payment gateways and related services
  • Develop and maintain automated tests (API and Web)
  • Test REST APIs and integrations, including transaction statuses, refunds, chargebacks, webhooks/callbacks, and 3DS flows
  • Collaborate and communicate with external payment providers and partners on integrations, issue investigation, and quality topics
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, including reporting and flaky test control
  • Analyze logs, HTTP traffic, and test results to identify defects and root causes
  • Produce high-quality test documentation (test plans, strategies, checklists, test cases)
  • Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders
  • Participate in performance testing and quality assurance of high-load systems

Requirements:

Must have

  • 6+ years of experience in QA, including at least 2 years in test automation (end-to-end)
  • Hands-on experience in fintech / payments domain
  • Strong understanding of payment flows: transaction statuses, refunds, chargebacks, webhooks/callbacks, and 3DS
  • Strong REST API and integration testing skills (idempotency, retries, timeouts, signatures)
  • Experience in critical Web automation (Playwright / Cypress / Selenium with Pytest or equivalent frameworks)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions), test reporting, and flaky test management
  • Strong debugging skills using logs and HTTP traffic
  • Practical Git skills for merging requests and resolving conflicts
  • Basic SQL skills
  • Ability to write clear, high-quality bug reports
  • Background in high-load or mission-critical payment systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Fluent Russian and a good working proficiency in English

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of PCI DSS standards and regulatory requirements related to payment systems, gateways, APIs, and protocols
  • Experience in the crypto domain or crypto payment products
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to shape the future of fintech solutions within a growing company
  • Collaborative, horizontal team structure that values your expertise and ideas
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance your skills and career growth
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work-life balance

* Please note that this position is offered within the COLIBRIX ONE. Employment will be under the appropriate legal entity based on the role and location.
