Abnormal AI is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Adaptive Classifications Team. The team owns & operates Abnormal’s AI Security Mailbox and Detection 360 products. The team’s goal is to automate security analysts' workflows by providing them with reliable, intuitive, and delightful agentic products that give them back time in their day.
This is a full-stack team responsible for all layers, including data storage, detection efficacy, backend, and frontend. The ideal candidate will have worked across the stack and have in-depth knowledge about backend systems, distributed computing, and event-driven architecture.
What you will do- Work with the Engineering Manager & Product Manager to craft the roadmap for the ACT team.
- Lead and architect Software Projects critical to Abnormal’s success with a team of engineers through conception, design, implementation, launch & operation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship for junior members of the team
- Collaborate with Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, and Go-To-Market teams in order to implement, verify, and iterate on the issues & requests coming from our customers
- Raise the bar of excellence in engineering, actively contributing to knowledge sharing within the team, and participating in professional development activities.
- Grow into a tech lead role for the AI Security Mailbox product
- Own key deliverables from e2e within our division's quarterly roadmap and a subset of the key divisional SLAs/SLOs
- Provide direct leverage for the team by architecting and owning AI-native workflows to eliminate team toil.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or other related engineering field
- 5+ years of industry experience on backend web development & distributed systems, designing & building software applications
- Experience working individually as well as in groups on a regular basis
- Experience working with distributed teams, proficient in asynchronous and written communication
- Experience building features & components from scratch and operating them, balancing feature development work with operational tasks
- Expert with Python and/or Go
- Proficient and bullish about AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, and other AI native workflows
- You’re growth-driven & looking to increase impact & responsibility over time
- Experience with our stack: Python, Go, AWS, Kubernetes, Django, Celery, Kafka, Prometheus, Postgres/MySQL
- Experience with frontend frameworks, particularly React.js
- Tech Lead Experience
- Familiarity with AWS services and deployment practices.
- Startup or Cybersecurity Experience
- MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering field

Actual compensation will be determined based on several non-discriminatory factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
