About the role 

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Payments Platform team, responsible for building and evolving a large-scale financial infrastructure serving millions of users.

You will work on core payment and banking capabilities, including accounts, wallets, balances, payment authorization, card lifecycle management, compliance integrations, and reporting services. The platform is primarily built in Ruby, and you will contribute to its evolution in a highly autonomous and product-driven environment.

As part of a global engineering organization, you will collaborate closely with teammates across Brazil and France, partnering with Product and Engineering leaders to deliver reliable, scalable, and user-centric solutions.

We are looking for engineers who combine strong technical fundamentals with product thinking, business awareness, and a high level of ownership.

As a Senior Software Engineer, your mission will be to:

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and monitor backend services in production environments.

  • Contribute to the evolution of a large-scale payments platform supporting millions of users.

  • Work primarily with Ruby-based backend systems, evolving and maintaining core services.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to solve real business problems.

  • Translate product requirements into pragmatic and scalable technical solutions.

  • Drive architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.

  • Improve system reliability, observability, performance, and security.

  • Lead projects end-to-end, ensuring high-quality execution and delivery.

  • Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.

  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team.

  • Facilitate communication and alignment across distributed teams.

What We're Looking For:

  • Significant experience building and operating backend systems in production.

  • Strong understanding of software design, distributed systems, and scalable architectures.

  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.

  • Experience with messaging and event-driven systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.

  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of complex problems from discovery to delivery.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Product mindset and ability to understand business context when making technical decisions.

  • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate in a global environment.

  • Fluent/Advanced English proficiency (C1-C2 Level).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated industries.

  • Experience with compliance, KYC, or financial reporting systems.

  • Previous experience working in international and distributed teams.
