Senior Software Engineer - Caffeine (Frontend)

DFINITY is seeking a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join the team building Caffeine, an innovative AI-driven no-code platform. Caffeine will empower everyday users to design, develop, and deploy software applications on the Internet Computer (IC), a revolutionary decentralized and serverless alternative to traditional cloud compute platforms.

* Please note that this role requires in-office work from our amazing office in San Francisco 3 days per week.

What you’ll work on:

You’ll own the complete software development lifecycle for key products, including:

• Caffeine: A user-friendly tool empowering both technical and non-technical users to create and deploy SaaS applications using natural language prompts
• ICP Ninja: A web-based IDE designed for new ICP developers, simplifying and accelerating software development and deployment on the Internet Computer

You’ll primarily work in TypeScript, Node.js, React and other modern frontend technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop sophisticated and user-friendly interfaces for enhanced developer and user experiences
• Take end-to-end ownership of features, from initial concept to final deployment, working closely with designers
• Play a key role in shaping UI architecture and maintaining shared component libraries
• Work with backend developers to create well-integrated APIs and system functionalities
• At times, contribute to backend development (in Rust) to ensure comprehensive product delivery

You May Be a Great Fit If You:

• Possess a strong foundation in computer science (degree or equivalent)
• Have significant experience leading frontend or full-stack engineering initiatives
• Have a proven track record of shipping web applications for both B2B and B2C audiences
• Have strong proficiency in modern frontend development using JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks such as React
• Are proactive and willing to contribute to backend development as necessary.
• Prioritize user experience and the creation of maintainable code
• Can effectively collaborate within a diverse, multi-time zone team environment.
• Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Are excited by the potential of democratizing software engineering and building a more resilient internet

Bonus Points:

• Experience working with the Internet Computer or other blockchains  
• Contributions to open-source projects
• Experience building products around large language models (LLMs)

Base Salary Range:  $175,000 - $235,000/yr

This position can be considered across multiple levels. Total compensation at DFINITY consists of base salary + generous bonus and is determined based on multiple factors including job leveling, areas of expertise, educational background, geographic location and overall experience.
