WHAT IS BOX?

Box (NYSE:BOX) is the leader in Intelligent Content Management. Our platform enables organizations to fuel collaboration, manage the entire content lifecycle, secure critical content, and transform business workflows with enterprise AI. We help companies thrive in the new AI-first era of business. Founded in 2005, Box simplifies work for leading global organizations, including JLL, Morgan Stanley, and Nationwide. Box is headquartered in Redwood City, CA, with offices across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

By joining Box, you will have the unique opportunity to continue driving our platform forward. Content powers how we work. It’s the billions of files and information flowing across teams, departments, and key business processes every single day: contracts, invoices, employee records, financials, product specs, marketing assets, and more. Our mission is to bring intelligence to the world of content management and empower our customers to completely transform workflows across their organizations. With the combination of AI and enterprise content, the opportunity has never been greater to transform how the world works together and at Box you will be on the front lines of this massive shift.

WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

Every file previewed, every document shared, every task completed — our engineering team builds the core experiences that make it all happen. We're evolving our React architecture into a faster, more reliable, and delightful experience — built for an AI-driven world — while shipping new features customers are actively asking for. If you're excited by building at scale, partnering closely with Product and Design, and leading complex architectural evolution with zero downtime, this role is for you.

As a Senior Software Engineer focused on frontend, you'll drive end-to-end delivery of high-impact features, contribute to our next-generation architecture and design blueprints, and amplify our velocity and output. You'll work on a team that actively embraces AI-assisted tooling and workflows while staying grounded in strong engineering fundamentals — writing clean code, making thoughtful design decisions, and building systems that last. You'll also take part in releases and on-call rotations to keep our core workflows available and performant.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead development of React-based features for core web experiences, with a focus on evolving the preview experience and other high-impact user flows.
  • Drive the evolution of our frontend architecture toward modern, scalable design systems with a focus on performance and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to translate customer requests into clear requirements and iterative roadmaps.
  • Own complex projects from design to launch, including testing, instrumentation, and rollouts.
  • Contribute to frontend architecture, coding standards, and reusable UI components.
  • Partner with backend engineers to define APIs and ensure seamless end-to-end functionality.
  • Collaborate across time zones with a partner engineering team in Poland to coordinate on shared features and architectural decisions.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate development, improve code quality, and push our architecture forward — while applying the engineering judgment to know when it helps and when it doesn't.
  • Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 5+ years of professional experience building production web applications.
  • Strong product mindset with experience partnering with PM and Design to ship customer-impacting features.
  • Experience owning complex projects end-to-end, including testing, observability, and phased rollouts.
  • Proven track record evolving frontend architectures and adopting modern design systems at scale.
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted development workflows and a pragmatic approach to integrating them into everyday engineering.
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams across time zones.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, release processes, and on-call support for web applications.
  • Strong understanding of web fundamentals, including performance, accessibility (WCAG), security, and testing.

MUST-HAVE EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors or above degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Clear, inclusive communicator who values collaboration, mentorship, and continuous improvement.

NICE TO HAVE EXPERIENCE

  • Exposure to backend services and API design.
