What you'll be doing
  • Build recommendation models for video recommendations.
  • Duties include building APIs to serving recommendations model online; researching and leveraging LLM on recommendations; and researching and leveraging computer vision models for image classification and video understanding.
  • Experiment and implement semi-automatic annotation techniques which involve minimal human supervision, for Natural Language Understanding (NLU) models, to help speed up the annotation process without sacrificing quality.
  • Re-train existing ML and DL models, and evaluate performance on the semi-automatically annotated data.
  • Provide current data annotation processes and propose ideas to improve the pipeline for NLU capabilities of the Roku Voice system.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and product teams to launch research ideas into a Roku product release.
  • Document work via internal wikis, design documents, record demos and slide presentations.
You are required to have
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2 years experience in position, as a Data Scientist, Research Engineer, Technical Lead, or related occupation.

Must have at least 1 year of prior work experience in each of the following:

  1. Programming languages like Python and Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
  2. Different types of machine learning (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing such as LLM) and common algorithms
  3. Machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensorflow
  4. Data engineering skills such as SQL
  5. Software engineering such as version control, testing and documentation
  6. Linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics

Up to one day per week telecommuting may be permitted.

For California Only - The annual salary for this position is between $369,750 - $573,750

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.
