We are looking for a Manager who is passionate about building and modernizing software-defined network infrastructure and datapath.

As a Manager at DigitalOcean, you will join a high-impact engineering organization focused on advancing the future of cloud computing. Reporting to the Director of Network Engineering, this role will lead and grow the Software Networking team, driving the development, modernization, and operation of DigitalOcean’s software-defined network infrastructure. 

What You’ll Do:
  • Talent development and performance management; coaching, and developing a culture of inclusivity and collaboration 
  • Work with other technologies to architect next generation network 
  • Partner with senior technical and business leadership to co-develop multi-year roadmaps for the technology areas across the organization 
  • Proactively identify and solve challenges that negatively impact team velocity and successful delivery
  • Work with the team to streamline and modernize tools used for network equipment lifecycle management

  • Technologist - strong software development background with experience in languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or C++. Strong understanding of cloud networking technologies and protocols including: TCP/IP, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, DNS, Routing and switching, Load balancing, Traffic engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or network engineering.
  • 2+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience; ; passion to mentor, motivate, and coach team member
  • Experience operating large-scale distributed infrastructure and production systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience driving cross-functional engineering programs.
Compensation Range: 
  • $176,000 - $220,000

*This is a hybrid role

You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
