Magna Legal Services is seeking a talented and driven Senior Software Engineer to join our growing technology team. This role supports the technology platforms that power our Records business and is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable applications that support both internal operations and client-facing solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering expertise with exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset. This role is not only responsible for building high-quality software, but also for partnering with business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into practical solutions, and helping guide technology decisions across the organization.

We are committed to leveraging AI throughout our software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate embraces AI-assisted development tools as a core part of modern engineering, using them to improve productivity, code quality, and innovation while exercising sound engineering judgment.

This is a fully remote role, offering the opportunity to make a direct impact on the technology that supports Magna's Records business. While this role is primarily focused on the Records business, our engineering team collaborates across the organization. Engineers regularly contribute to shared platforms, cross-functional initiatives, and projects supporting other business lines as business priorities evolve.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable web applications and services that support Magna's Records business and client-facing platforms.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and fellow engineers to understand business needs and translate them into well-designed technical solutions.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts, architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Design, build, and enhance APIs and backend services using C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop responsive, high-quality user experiences using React and modern UI frameworks when appropriate.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and similar technologies to improve development efficiency, code quality, and delivery speed.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning, contributing thoughtful recommendations and mentoring other engineers when appropriate.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices that enable reliable, secure, and efficient software delivery.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production applications, implementing scalable, long-term solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies (including AI capabilities) to identify opportunities that improve engineering efficiency and deliver greater business value.

Desired Background

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and supporting production-grade applications.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing applications using C#/.NET.
  • Strong professional experience designing, deploying, and supporting cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed applications.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with modern software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Enthusiasm for AI-assisted software development and a willingness to leverage modern AI tools as part of day-to-day engineering work.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with React and/or modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience with Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Service Bus, Azure Key Vault, and related Azure services.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or other CI/CD platforms.
  • Experience with Git, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience integrating applications with AI or machine learning services, including Azure OpenAI or similar platforms.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies.
  • Experience in legal technology, healthcare, financial services, or other regulated industries.
