At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

About the Role

As a Senior Solution Engineer (Expansion), you will be a strategic technical leader for Snowflake’s enterprise customers & Prospects in Malaysia, with a focus on Telecommunications (Telco) and Financial Services (FSI) sectors.

You will partner closely with Account Executives to drive adoption, workload expansion, and multi‑line-of-business growth across your accounts. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior technical and business stakeholders, guiding them on how to use Snowflake as the core of their data, analytics, and AI strategy.

This is a field-facing, customer-first role that combines deep technical skills, strong industry context (Telco/FSI), and the ability to design and communicate high‑impact architectures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Expansion in Existing Accounts

    • Own the technical expansion strategy for a portfolio of Telco & FSI customers in Malaysia.

    • Identify new workloads, use cases, and lines of business to land on Snowflake (e.g., risk & compliance, customer 360, network analytics, fraud, revenue assurance, real-time personalization).

    • Map business objectives to Snowflake-powered solutions that increase consumption and platform stickiness.

  • Spearhead Technical motion for Customer Acquisition

    • Present Snowflake technology and vision to executives and technical contributors at prospects and customers

    • Work hands-on with prospects and customers to demonstrate and communicate the value of Snowflake technology throughout the sales cycle, from demo to proof of concept to design and implementation

    • Immerse yourself in the ever-evolving industry, maintaining a deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors and how to position Snowflake in relation to them.

  • Customer Discovery & Technical Leadership

    • Lead technical discovery sessions with architects, data leaders, and domain stakeholders to uncover pain points, constraints, and opportunities.

    • Craft and present target-state architectures, reference patterns, and roadmaps for data consolidation, analytics, data science & AI, and data sharing/monetization.

    • Serve as the technical quarterback in the account team, orchestrating internal resources (specialists, PS, partners) to execute expansion strategies.

  • Telco & FSI Industry Focus

    • Bring domain perspective on FSI and Telco: typical data estates, regulatory & compliance concerns, and common analytics/AI use cases.

    • Advise on how Snowflake addresses data residency, security, governance, and regulatory expectations in these industries.

    • Develop and reuse industry-specific solution patterns, demos, and assets that resonate with FSI and Telco stakeholders.

  • Solution Design, Demos & POCs

    • Design and deliver compelling demos and technical narratives tailored to each customer’s architecture and use cases.

    • Lead and execute POCs/Pilots that prove value and de‑risk platform decisions, including success criteria definition and joint execution plans.

    • Translate complex technical capabilities into clear business value and ROI for senior non-technical audiences.

  • Technical Governance & Best Practices

    • Guide customers on best practices for data modeling, performance optimization, cost governance, security, and operations on Snowflake.

    • Help customers standardize on Snowflake as their enterprise data foundation, including migration strategies from legacy platforms.

    • Review and advise on architectural decisions, reference architectures, and implementation designs.

  • Cross-Functional & Partner Collaboration

    • Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Success, Professional Services, Product, and Partners to ensure successful customer outcomes.

    • Work with SI, ISV, and cloud partners to incorporate their solutions into customer architectures where relevant.

    • Capture and relay field feedback to Product and Engineering to influence roadmap priorities, especially for FSI/Telco needs.

  • Thought Leadership & Evangelism

    • Represent Snowflake at customer workshops, executive briefings, industry events, and community meetups.

    • Create and share technical content (presentations, reference architectures, playbooks, demos) that supports expansion in FSI and Telco.

    • Mentor more junior SEs and contribute to SE best practices and knowledge sharing within the region.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineer, Pre-Sales Architect, Data Architect, or similar) in the data/analytics or cloud space.

  • Strong hands-on expertise with cloud data platforms, data warehousing, or big data technologies (e.g., Snowflake, SQL data warehouses, Hadoop/Spark, cloud-native data services).

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with one or more programming languages commonly used in data/analytics (e.g., Python).

  • Proven ability to design and communicate architectures for data integration, warehousing, BI/analytics, and data science/ML workloads.

  • Industry experience or strong exposure in FSI and/or Telco, such as working with:

    • Banks, insurers, capital markets, or payment providers, and/or

    • Telco operators, cable/media, or digital service providers.

  • Demonstrated success in driving technical win and expansion in enterprise accounts, ideally in a subscription or consumption-based model.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging both deep technical teams and senior business/IT executives.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, managing multiple complex opportunities in parallel.

  • Based in Malaysia, with ability to travel within the region as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar cloud-native data platforms, including:

    • Data ingestion & transformation

    • Performance tuning & cost governance

    • Security, data masking, and governance

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data/analytics ecosystems.

  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance landscapes relevant to FSI and Telco (e.g., data residency, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and regional guidelines, industry standards).

  • Experience with analytics/BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and/or data science & ML frameworks.

  • Prior experience in a field pre-sales role at a data platform, cloud provider, or analytics/AI company.

What We Look For in This Role

  • A customer-obsessed technical leader who is passionate about unlocking value from data.

  • Someone who can balance strategic architecture thinking with hands-on execution.

  • A strong collaborator who enjoys working with Sales to build and execute expansion strategies in complex enterprise environments.

  • A candid, curious, and growth-minded individual who thrives in ambiguity and helps shape how customers think about data, analytics, and AI on Snowflake.

Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
