Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM

Product Integrity

We are the first-line of defense for safety + security + quality of automated driving software at Woven by Toyota. Partnering with feature, systems, safety, cybersecurity and machine-learning teams, we turn prototypes into production-intent, standards-compliant software that can be trusted on public roads. Our mandate flows directly from Woven’s commitment to “zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.”

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

A safety-minded systems engineer who can execute our safety case strategy for both public roads development testing and production. You thrive at the intersection of technical leadership and risk management: aligning leadership on strong claims and argumentation, guiding cross-functional teams to provide supporting evidence, and aggregate risks for informed release decisions. This is a senior individual contributor role with deep hands-on engagement across automated driving feature teams, Systems Engineering, AI Safety, HW, operational safety, and compliance. You bring rigor, consistency, and practical judgment to make our internal product demonstrably safe for mass production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write safety claims and defeaters using eliminative argumentation

  • Manage democratized ownership of evidence across cross-functional teams including providing guidance on what evidence and strategies are appropriate for the claim/defeater.

  • Assess inherent and residual risks as well as create a methodology to aggregate risks across different risk dimensions, e.g. motorway vs urban.

  • Work with cross-functional leadership to align on the safety case and clearly communicate risks for informed decision-making on whether to release software to development fleets and/or to mass-production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS, EE, ME or related discipline.

  • 5+ years in safety-critical automotive or aerospace systems in a production environment.

  • Hands-on experience with writing claims/defeaters, contributing evidence and risk assessments for safety cases.

  • Deep, practical experience with automotive safety standards such as ISO 26262 (esp. Parts 3–6) , SOTIF (ISO 21448), ISO 8800 (AI Safety), or UL 4600.

  • Experience communicating complex technical concepts to internal/external stakeholders and auditors.

  • Hands-on collaboration with V&V, including HIL/vehicle test design, coverage tactics, and KPI definition.

  • Excellent cross-functional communication, influence, and documentation skills.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience with safety cases used for mass-production or L4 autonomous vehicle deployments.

  • Familiar with international regulatory compliance requirements
