Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure using an incremental, hardware-rich, and low-cost approach. Vast is rapidly developing its multi-module Haven Station to ensure a continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy for government, corporate, and private customers. Haven Demo’s 2025 success made Vast the only operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world’s first commercial space station when it launches in 2027, followed by additional Haven modules. Additionally, the company recently announced Vast Satellite, a high-power satellite product line leveraging its space station components and the heritage of Haven Demo.

Headquartered in Long Beach, California, and with more than 1,000 employees and over a billion dollars in private capital, Vast has built the facilities required to manufacture and operate America’s next space station. The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.

Vast is looking for a Senior Technical Sourcer (Fixed-Term), reporting to the Manager of Talent Sourcing, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

You’ll be at the forefront of identifying and engaging the engineers who will design, build, and launch the next generation of human-rated space systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to deepen your technical recruiting expertise, partner closely with hiring teams, and influence how we attract world-class talent in one of the most ambitious industries on Earth.

This will be a 6 month fixed-term position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute targeted sourcing strategies to identify top technical talent across a variety of engineering disciplines
  • Build and maintain robust pipelines of passive and active candidates to support current and future hiring needs
  • Engage prospective candidates through thoughtful outreach, sharing Vast’s mission and inspiring interest in our work
  • Conduct initial candidate screens and exploratory conversations to assess technical alignment, experience, and motivation
  • Partner closely with recruiters and hiring managers to understand role requirements and translate them into effective sourcing plans
  • Track and manage candidate activity to ensure a high-quality, consistent talent pipeline

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a technical sourcer or a similar talent acquisition role
  • Experience sourcing across multiple technical disciplines — such as software engineering, systems engineering, mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering — with the ability to evaluate candidate fit at a screening level
  • Proficiency with an ATS (e.g., Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, or similar) and a strong commitment to data integrity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling, personalized candidate outreach and to communicate credibly with technical talent
  • Strong proficiency in LinkedIn Recruiter, advanced Boolean search, and AI-powered sourcing and talent intelligence platforms (e.g., HireEZ, Seekout, or similar)
  • Proven ability to own end-to-end sourcing strategy for a full book of work — setting priorities, managing competing requisitions, and making sound, independent judgments about where to invest sourcing effort

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to source candidates with niche areas of expertise or executive searches
  • Prior experience in the aerospace, defense, space, or advanced technology industry
  • Self-directed with a high sense of urgency while maintaining a meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and maintain unwavering poise under pressure
  • Highly organized with a knack for building relationships
  • Experience with competitive intelligence and talent market mapping to proactively surface insights that shape hiring strategy
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Excellent communicator and problem solver
