Role

We are looking for an AI-Forward Senior Technical Trainer to join our Zscaler Cyber Academy. This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA, reporting to the AMS Delivery Leader in the Zscaler Cyber Academy (Product) department.

A Senior Technical Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering advanced educational programs that empower customers, partners, and internal teams to master complex technologies. In this role, you will not only teach cutting-edge cloud security concepts but also pioneer the use of Artificial Intelligence to scale our learning initiatives. By combining a deep technical understanding of AI integrations within our products with the application of AI tools in curriculum development, this role directly drives product adoption, enhances user success, and accelerates organizational growth.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)
  • AI-Enhanced Delivery: Conduct engaging, high-level technical training sessions (ILT, VILT, and hands-on workshops) that integrate AI-driven use cases, helping learners understand how machine learning and automation fit into modern security architectures.
  • Accelerated Content Design: Leverage Generative AI (GenAI) and advanced prompting frameworks to design, develop, and continuously update comprehensive training materials, lab exercises, and certification exams at unprecedented speeds, ensuring they reflect the latest product features.
  • AI Mentorship: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to mentor and onboard junior trainers, specifically upskilling the team on AI-assisted instructional design, content generation, and modern delivery standards.
  • Cross-Functional Innovation: Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and Support teams to translate complex technical specifications—including neural networks, AI engines, and machine learning models—into easily digestible learning content.
  • Predictive Analytics: Measure and analyze training effectiveness by utilizing AI-powered analytics and predictive learning models to evaluate student feedback, identify knowledge gaps, and dynamically optimize the curriculum.
Who You Are (Success Profile)
  • Masterful Translator: You have the superpower of bridging the gap between AI engineers/data scientists who build intelligent products and the users trying to understand them, seamlessly translating dense algorithmic architecture into digestible learning experiences.
  • Agile and Adaptable: You don't freeze when automation scripts fail or AI lab environments hallucinate/crash; instead, you pivot seamlessly and turn technical hurdles into live troubleshooting lessons for your students.
  • Champion of Simplicity: You are a precise communicator who distills overwhelming concepts—such as Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning models, and automated security workflows—into simple, actionable steps.
  • Cross-Functional Catalyst: You possess the interpersonal skills to build high-trust relationships with busy Subject Matter Experts, particularly in AI research and engineering, extracting the knowledge needed to stay ahead of an aggressive product roadmap.
  • Insatiably Curious: You have a proactive drive to explore new AI agents, master prompt engineering, and break things in the lab to figure out how they work before you are ever asked to teach them.
What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of experience in technical training, enablement, sales engineering, or technical support, with a strong background in AI/ML applications, SaaS, cloud computing, or cybersecurity
  • Demonstrated track record of independently delivering highly technical instructor-led training to diverse audiences, particularly involving AI-driven products or automated security solutions
  • Hands-on experience designing and building technical courseware, utilizing AI tooling to scale presentation decks, student guides, and interactive, hands-on lab environments
  • Strong foundational knowledge of enterprise technologies, including Artificial Intelligence frameworks, machine learning lifecycles, cloud architectures, and networking protocols, with the ability to rapidly master new software
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to command a room and confidently translate dense engineering concepts (including AI capabilities) to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Established credibility and deep domain expertise at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing
  • Advanced technical proficiency in writing scripts and utilizing AI coding assistants (like Copilot or ChatGPT) to automate the dynamic spin-up and spin-down of virtual student lab environments
  • Experience building high-end asynchronous learning content natively with AI-generation tools, including synthetic voice/video production, automated grading, and adaptive gamification elements
