Job Description

Senior Technology Engineer

As a Senior Technology Engineer in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering, you'll help bring new packing and automation technologies from concept into scalable manufacturing at our Richmond, Virginia site.

The NPI Engineering team bridges the gap between Research & Development (R&D) and manufacturing, helping turn innovative ideas into reliable production. As a Senior Technology Engineer, you'll shape how new packing and automation technologies are introduced, ensuring they're technically ready, scalable and ready for long-term success. 

 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Act as the technical liaison between NPI Engineering, R&D teams and automation vendors, ensuring new technologies are introduced in line with global standards and site readiness. 

  • Lead the deployment and integration of automated packing lines, robotics, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and connected systems, ensuring seamless integration with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and plant infrastructure. 

  • Oversee automation integration across Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), plant networks, mechanical and electrical controls, supporting the successful start-up and ramp-up of new operations. 

  • Troubleshoot complex automation and MES issues, using root-cause analysis, performance monitoring and data-driven corrective actions to improve safety, quality and efficiency. 

  • Develop and maintain technical standards, equipment configuration documentation and integration guidance, while mentoring engineers and technicians and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable automation solutions. 

 

Do you have what it takes? 

  • Significant experience in automation-intensive manufacturing environments, ideally within packing systems or other high-volume operations. 

  • Strong knowledge and experience of automation systems, robotics, AGVs, PLCs, SCADA and MES. 

  • Experience leading the commissioning, validation and ramp-up of multi-vendor automated equipment. 

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues and drive structured root-cause analysis. 

  • Confident translating technical design intent into clear operational procedures, documentation and standards. 

  • Strong communication skills and experience working with engineering teams, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and technology partners. 

  • Fluent in English and willing to travel domestically and internationally. 

 

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience with automated packing equipment, case packing, palletizing, or material handling systems. 

  • Experience with AGV fleets, warehouse automation, or intralogistics systems. 

  • Familiarity with ISO9001 or similar quality or technical governance frameworks. 

  • Experience working with global R&D or engineering organizations. 

  • Spanish language skills are a plus. 

 

Compensation 

The salary for this position has a range of min 93,989 to 140,983 max annual based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The definitive compensation may vary in alignment with the selected candidate’s professional background, experience, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.

Note: This position is based at our LEGO Virginia manufacturing factory located in Richmond. This is not a remote position.

Compensation

The salary for this position has a range of $93,989.00 - $140,983.00 based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalisation of the employment offer.
