Lead the design of AI-powered supply chain tools, driving user experience from discovery to delivery, while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.
About BackOps AI
Role Overview
What We Offer
BackOps AI is transforming supply chain operations with agentic AI solutions that automate complex workflows, freeing operations teams to focus on what matters most. Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area with flexible remote-friendly options, we foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and measurable impact.
As Senior Designer, you will define and deliver the user experience for AI-powered supply chain tools that manage real operations across departments and industries. You'll own meaningful areas of the product end-to-end from discovery through delivery and connect your work directly to company goals. This is a high-craft, high-autonomy role for a designer who doesn't wait to be told what to build, but sees problems, proposes solutions, and drives them forward.
What You'll Do
- Lead design for a core product area end to end from discovery and concept through delivery and iteration.
- Partner closely with product and engineering from day one, shaping how problems are framed before solutions are explored.
- Plan and conduct user research: interviews, usability tests, concept validation and translate findings into clear design direction.
- Use AI tools to accelerate your process: generate and pressure-test concepts, explore solution spaces faster, and surface edge cases early before they become costly.
- Create wireframes, flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma that communicate intent at every stage of the process.
- Navigate ambiguity confidently: define the problem when it isn't handed to you, and drive toward clarity without waiting for permission.
- Give and receive design critique in a way that raises the quality of the whole team's work, not just your own.
- Contribute to and help evolve the design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across the product.
- Mentor junior designers and act as a go-to resource for craft questions and process guidance.
- Advocate for the user in cross-functional conversations, balancing user needs against business goals and technical constraints.
- Use data, analytics, research, and experimentation alongside AI-powered insights to inform decisions and evaluate the impact of shipped work.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 5+ years in product design, with a track record of owning complex features or product areas end-to-end in a fast-moving environment.
- Craft mastery: A strong point of view on quality, with a portfolio that demonstrates interaction design, visual design, and systems thinking across complex user flows.
- Strategic thinking: Ability to frame ambiguous problems, connect design to business goals, and advocate for user needs in cross-functional conversations.
- Autonomy: You navigate moderately ambiguous situations, make sound judgment calls, and don't need hand-holding to drive work forward.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work as a true partner with PMs, engineers, and researchers — not waiting for handoffs.
- Communication: You can clearly articulate the rationale behind your decisions to cross-functional partners and stakeholders.
- Bonus: Experience designing for AI-native or enterprise B2B products, or familiarity with supply chain and operations workflows.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work at a high-growth AI startup, backed by top investors.
- Equity & Ownership: Generous equity packages so you grow alongside the company and share in our upside
- Impact & Visibility: Direct access to co-founders and the ability to see your work drive real business results
- Work With the Best: Join a world-class team of engineers and builders
- Flexible Work: Hybrid model with core Bay Area presence and remote flexibility
