Who are we?

Gemini UX

Our mission

Gemini UX’s charter is to create a personalized, intelligent, and helpful AI, on web and mobile, that’s seamlessly integrated across Google apps with state-of-the-art multimodality. The Gemini UX team is made of dedicated and talented content designers, conversation designers, UI designers, researchers, UX engineers, and PgMs who are passionate about creating the best possible experience for our users. We work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment with team members across Search, Trust & Safety, Policy, Workspace, Android, and Responsible AI.

"We see [AI] as the most important way we can deliver on our mission: to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”

Our UX Writing and Content Design team is defining the discipline of UX Writing for generative AI experiences. Our work demands attention to dimensions beyond classic UI text (words on a graphical interface), like how this text should appear amid the flow of a conversation, and how messaging should be coordinated across nearby devices.

Job responsibilities

Gemini UX partners with engineering, product management, and teams across Google to create intuitive, conversational, and—most importantly, helpful—experiences that are powered by generative AI. We’re helping the next tech revolution not feel like tech at all.

We're looking for a detail-oriented, systems-thinking content designer who can work with a cross-functional team to drive clear, engaging content design. This writer will help define the vision, strategy, and content design of the many new products that the Gemini app team is developing, and will also be an ethics-driven champion for respecting user privacy as we develop our designs.

  • Bring clarity to ambiguous product problems and shape them into tangible design solutions.
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, prototypers, product managers, and engineers to develop vision and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver simple product experiences.
  • Write clear, concise user interface text.
  • Create product-specific guidelines for tone, style, and usage.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (a “go to”) for user experience writing.
  • Manage projects and stakeholders.
  • Develop concepts for early-stage products. Provide data-informed insights to improve existing experiences.
  • Help coordinate translations, improve writing tools and processes, format documents, and generally lend a hand as needed to produce world-class products.
  • Evolve & execute on our vision for UX writing in a multi-modal world.

Minimum qualifications

  • You must meet these minimum qualifications to apply for this job.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience on user-focused product writing including work in hardware, software, digital agency, or other relevant product area.
  • Experience in shaping content for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working on non-standard platforms with emerging interaction modalities such as voice-driven or platform.
  • Caring deeply about user journeys and details of experience flows that can span across modalities (from voice only to visual only).
  • Experience developing information architecture for complex documentation sets or product suites.
  • Experience with localization and accessibility best practices.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $168000 - $266000+ bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
