The Detection and Optimization team in Perception is responsible for designing neural network model architectures that act as the detection backbones for Zoox's sensor data. We work on incorporating state of the art language alignment strategies into the sensor modality backbones. This team helps Zoox advance faster into new geofences by making the models more generalizable and adaptable to new circumstances.
In this role, you will:
- Train machine learning models, perform various studies into incorporating state of the art approaches as well as ablations/modifications of existing models
- Document experimental outcomes and drive towards deploying these models into Zoox robots
- Collaborate with teams such as Machine Learning Optimization, Data Labeling, Verification and Validation, Motion Planning and Controls, and Prediction and Behavior to ensure the project is successful for Zoox releases
Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in computer science or related field and 8+ years of experience in a related field
- Fluency in C++ and/or Python
- Experience with modern computer vision techniques and machine learning
- Extensive experience with programming and algorithm design and handling large data sets efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to create functional systems that solve difficult perception tasks
Bonus Qualifications
- Publications in your field (CVPR, ICCV, RSS, ICRA preferred)
- Experience with autonomous robots
- Experience with sensor fusion (e.g. LiDAR, camera, radar)
- Experience with novel pipelines and architectures for convolutional neural nets and Vision Transformers
