The Role

You'll join the engineering team behind Beacon, Clearwater's front office platform used by investment banks, hedge funds, asset managers, and insurance companies. Your work sits at the intersection of financial data and production software — ingesting market data, processing trades, and building the infrastructure that gives portfolio managers and traders real-time visibility into their positions.

This is not a quant role, but you'll work closely with people who speak the language of markets. You should be comfortable learning the domain.

What You'll Build

  • Market data ingestion pipelines, connecting to third-party vendors (Bloomberg, Refinitiv) and normalizing pricing, reference, and corporate action data
  • Trade ingestion systems, including high-frequency trade processing and reconciliation
  • Time series frameworks for storing and querying financial data efficiently
  • ETL and data pipelines that move and transform investment data reliably at scale
  • Integrations with third-party financial platforms and internal Beacon framework features

Must Haves

  • Python proficiency, production-grade Python, not just scripts
  • Finance domain exposure, you've worked with financial instruments (equities, fixed income, derivatives, FX) in a professional context. Banking, fintech, asset management, or financial data all count.
  • SQL fluency, comfortable writing complex queries and understanding query performance
  • Data pipeline experience, you've built or maintained ETL/ELT workflows in production CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, system design basics

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Kafka, Redis, or other streaming/messaging systems
  • Familiarity with market data vendors or financial data formats (FIX, FPML, Bloomberg API)
  • Cloud experience, AWS or Azure in a data engineering context
  • NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) alongside relational
  • Prior experience at a bank, hedge fund, asset manager, or fintech

Tech Stack

Python    SQL    Kafka    AWS / Azure    Redis    REST APIs    Bloomberg / Refinitiv    FIX Protocol
