Job Description

Who You’ll Work With

We are looking for a self-motivated, and team-oriented Software Development Engineer who takes pride in driving and sustaining product development through manufacturing. As an Arista Software Development Engineer in Manufacturing Test, you will engage with Engineering, Platform Design, CM Partners, CA personnel and other business functions. You will get an opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, high caliber team building test software to help validate high-speed digital designs and achieve high yields in manufacturing Arista Network products used in the computer networking industry's largest data centers.

What You’ll Do 

The Manufacturing Test team is responsible for developing test scripts for Final System Test of switches, increasing efficiency by automating, debugging test failure and lastly managing daily support of our products, systems, and tools in manufacturing. The successful candidate will work closely on a project from its early conception to the final stage of testing before it is shipped to a customer. They will work with fellow engineers and members of the Hardware, Platform and Software team to understand the design and support the development of new products and drive design for test excellence. They will also work with customers to add customer specific configurations before shipping the units. They will play a major role in improving yield at the contract manufacturer site as their software will be critical in validating the builds and quickly identify manufacturing defects.

  • Support the development of new products and drive design for test excellence. 
  • Participate on a project team of engineers involved in the specification, design, development and test of hardware.
  • Develop and implement test scripts using scripting languages, such as Python and GO.
  • Develop web GUI interfaces for production test infrastructure and data mining using Web frameworks, such as Django and databases, such as MariaDB.
  • Develop Manufacturing test plan based on hardware and platform functional specs.
  • Manage purchase, procurement and release of testing infrastructure to support new and sustaining products.
  • Perform new product and sustaining test engineering functions. 
  • DRT participation and leadership. Actively work with the Defect Reduction Team to identify product issues and drive resolutions. 
  • Establish technical direction through the investigation and evaluation of new test technologies.
  • Improve manufacturing operations test processes and actively enhance efficiency, consistency, cost avoidance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive the evaluation and enhancement of the engineering design verification process with the goal of improving test yield and releasing zero design defects to production.
  • Develop test process and best practice documentation in conformance to established manufacturing test processes and procedures.
  • Debug complex system level problems and define debug processes for test engineers in manufacturing sites.
  • Manufacturing test capacity management, asset, and budget planning and management
  • Provides technical support for all systemic defects, Line stops, Material Purges and Quality issues.
  • Maintain test programs and scripts at Manufacturing Sites.
  • Any experience with Liquid cooling based manufacturing is a bonus.
  • Experience in DFx : DFC, DFQ, DFM, DFR, DFT is a bonus as well.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 3+ years of experience in Test Engineering experience Strong Object Oriented programming knowledge – Proficiency in Python.
  • Any experience with GO lang would be a bonus
  • Foundational knowledge of Linux systems and networking concepts
  • DB query experience (e.g. SQL )
  • Experience with version control software like Perforce or Git.
  • Basic knowledge of testing concepts
  • Knowledge of systems tests for hardware products/networking products would be a plus
  • Expertise with web based GUI interface and data mining using Web framework, (Django experience a plus) and database (mysql experience a plus).

Compensation Information 

The new hire base pay for this role has a pay range of $116,000 to $146,000. 

Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. 

The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection. The recruiting team can share more details during the hiring process specific to the role and location.
