Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Control Systems Software Engineer to join Aurora’s Autonomy Controls Software Team. The team is responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and verifying the motion control system of the Aurora Driver with all vehicle platforms.

In this role, you will

  • Develop motion control algorithms for a safety-critical system
  • Analyze control system performance in both offline and on-road execution environments
  • Verify robustness of system to disturbances, failure modes, and environmental conditions

Required Qualifications

  • Experience building production-quality C++ code
  • 8+ years of experience working on control systems for vehicle platforms in automotive, aerospace, robotics, or related fields.
  • Experience in control system design with a solid foundation in control theory
  • Experience analyzing/simulating nonlinear vehicle dynamics
  • Knowledge of state estimation and signal processing techniques

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with design of fail-safe/fail-operational control systems
  • Experience in verifying design of safety-critical and/or autonomous systems
  • Masters or PhD in related field

The base salary range for this position is $146K - $211.5K per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
