About CodeRabbit

CodeRabbit is the leading AI code review platform, trusted by more than 17,000 customers and 150,000 open-source projects, conducting over 2 million code reviews each week. We build the symbiotic partnership between developers and AI that makes shipping fast software safe again, reviewing every pull request, IDE change, and CLI commit so teams can move quickly without breaking things.

We are a fast-moving, well-funded company, fresh off a $143M Series C at a $1.5B valuation — building Agentic Change Management, the control layer for software changes created by humans and agents. As AI writes more of the world's code, the bottleneck moves from implementation to judgment and helping human judgment scale is exactly the problem we exist to solve.

The Role

CodeRabbit is building AI-powered developer tools that help engineering teams ship better code faster. As a Senior Software Engineer on our Enterprise Engineering team, you’ll build the systems and features that make our platform reliable, secure, and scalable for large organizations.

You’ll own projects from design through production, working across backend services, enterprise integrations, and self-hosted deployments. This role combines hands-on engineering with customer problem-solving: understanding complex requirements, making thoughtful architectural decisions, and delivering solutions that fit into enterprise development workflows.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, AI researchers, infrastructure specialists, and product partners to bring intelligent code review to enterprise teams while meeting their needs for security, compliance, performance, and operational control.

What You’ll Do
  • Build enterprise capabilities. Design, develop, and maintain features that help large organizations adopt and scale CodeRabbit across their engineering teams.

  • Strengthen self-hosted deployments. Improve deployment, configuration, upgrades, and observability so customers can reliably operate CodeRabbit in their own environments.

  • Design for scale and reliability. Build backend services, APIs, and distributed systems that support demanding enterprise workloads.

  • Develop secure systems. Partner with the team to implement security controls and compliance-related capabilities that address enterprise requirements.

  • Connect enterprise workflows. Build and maintain integrations with customers’ existing developer tools and internal systems.

  • Work closely with customers. Translate customer needs into technical requirements, support successful deployments, and troubleshoot complex production issues.

  • Own delivery and quality. Drive projects through design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing operation, following release practices that protect data integrity and system stability.

  • Raise the engineering bar. Contribute thoughtful design and code reviews, mentor other engineers, and improve team practices and tooling.

What You’ll Bring
  • 4+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend systems or distributed infrastructure in production, ideally within SaaS or enterprise software.

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js, Go, Java, or a comparable modern backend stack.

  • Experience designing and maintaining APIs using REST, GraphQL, or similar approaches.

  • Experience with microservices, asynchronous job processing, and event-driven architectures.

  • Working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and query performance.

  • Experience with AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and production observability.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals across testing, code reviews, version control, debugging, and maintainable system design.

  • Sound judgment when balancing security, reliability, performance, developer experience, and delivery speed.

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with customers and technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Points
  • Experience building self-hosted or customer-managed enterprise software.

  • Familiarity with enterprise identity, access controls, audit logging, or compliance requirements.

  • Experience integrating AI or LLM-based capabilities into production workflows.

  • Experience with code search, code graphs, tree-sitter, or static analysis tools.

  • Experience designing agent-based systems or products involving autonomous or task-driven agents.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or developer communities.

Why Join Our Engineering Team?

At CodeRabbit, engineers take ownership of problems and outcomes. You’ll help shape technical direction, work closely with the people using what you build, and carry your work from proposal to production.

We move quickly and expect thoughtful judgment. Our approach is to ship the smallest coherent solution, validate in proportion to risk, observe how it performs, and improve it. We use AI throughout our development process while remaining accountable for the quality and behavior of what we ship.

This role is a strong fit for engineers who enjoy autonomy, ambitious technical challenges, and high standards—and want to help shape how enterprise teams use AI in software development.

Our Values
  • Collaborative Humans: We prioritize collective intelligence and build together.

  • Fearless Innovators: We turn obstacles into opportunities to learn and improve.

  • Persistent, Passionate Developers: We stay committed through complex, long-term challenges.

  • Impact-Driven Creators: We build intuitive tools that solve meaningful problems for developers.

  • Rapid Learners and Un-learners: We adapt quickly and rethink assumptions as technology evolves.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
