About Us
Encord is the universal data layer for AI that helps 300+ AI teams train and run models on the right data. Our platform indexes, curates, annotates, and evaluates data across the full AI lifecycle, from development through production.Trusted by Woven by Toyota, AXA, UiPath, Zipline, and more.
We're an ambitious team of 100+ working at the frontier of AI and have raised $60M in Series C funding from Wellington Management, CRV, Next47 and Y Combinator.
The Role
As our first dedicated Growth Engineer, you'll own the full technical surface of how potential customers find us, experience us for the first time, and expand within their organisations. That means writing real software - not configuring tools - to build systems that scale. You'll work closely with our GTM, product, and engineering teams, turning growth hypotheses into shipped code and measurable outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Design and build the web infrastructure that powers our acquisition funnel — dynamic landing experiences, personalisation logic, and conversion tooling that responds intelligently to who is visiting and why
- Get deep into our CRM, product usage, and behavioural data to identify friction and drop-off across the customer journey, then build targeted technical interventions that move the needle on pipeline velocity
- Build interactive experiences that let ML engineers evaluate Encord hands-on, shortening the time between interest and conversion
- Architect the experimentation infrastructure that lets us run rigorous tests across the growth stack and translate results into durable product improvements
- Build the referral, sharing, and expansion mechanics that turn happy users into a source of organic growth within their organisations
- Connect our martech, CRM, and data warehouse into a coherent system so every team working on growth is working from the same source of truth
- Own our attribution stack from the ground up, implementing the tracking and data pipelines that give us a clear picture of how prospects move from first touch to closed deal
Who we're looking for
- A software engineer at heart who approaches growth problems with code, not config — you build systems that scale rather than stitching tools together
- Strong product instincts with a data-driven mindset — you identify friction, form hypotheses, and ship interventions that move the needle
- Systematic about experimentation — you know how to design a test, avoid common pitfalls, and when results are actually telling you something
- Comfortable working across GTM, product, and engineering — you translate between commercial goals and technical execution with ease
- Familiar with AI-powered development tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot as everyday accelerators
Experience requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a portfolio of work you've shipped and can speak to in depth
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React, with enough backend and data fluency to own systems end-to-end
- Solid SQL skills and comfort querying datasets to identify patterns and growth opportunities
- Experience with web analytics, funnel instrumentation, or conversion tracking — you know what good measurement looks like and how to build it properly
- Bonus: experience on a developer-facing product; hands-on experience with ML workflows, data pipelines, or AI tooling
Why Encord

- Clear, accelerated growth opportunities as the company scales rapidly
- Strong in-person culture: 3–5 days/week in our newly launched North Beach loft office

- Frequent travel opportunities across the U.S., London, and Europe
