About the Role

Our Segment Personalization team is the foundation of Attentive's personalization capabilities, processing and serving data for over 100 million customers daily to enable AI-driven, personalized customer experiences. We operate mission-critical infrastructure that powers product recommendations, audience segmentation, and personalized content across the platform. Our systems handle billions of events, serve millions of API requests daily, and drive direct impact to our customer's revenue generation on Attentive.

As a Software Engineer II, you will build and improve features across our personalization services, contributing directly to systems that power how Attentive understands products and customers. You will develop a strong understanding of the services you own. Working alongside senior engineers, you will grow your expertise in distributed systems, data pipelines, and real-time processing.

Engineering is changing fast, and this team is pushing the boundaries at our discipline. We believe the craft is moving one level of abstraction higher, away from writing code line by line and toward designing systems with judgment, clarity, and simplicity. We use AI aggressively in how we build, and we expect engineers to think deeply about how our systems work to steer outcomes. If you're ambitious about where engineering is headed, this is a team where you'll develop that mindset by doing real work at scale.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Build and improve the systems that power how Attentive personalizes messages for 100M+ customers. Your work directly enables our mission of providing bespoke, 1:1 shopping journeys for every customer
  • Own features end-to-end across our product catalog, customer segmentation, and data ingestion systems, developing a deep understanding of how data flows through our platform and why each piece matters
  • Use AI tools to move fast and focus your energy on the harder problems: understanding system behavior, simplifying architecture, and making good design tradeoffs

Your Expertise

  • 2-4 years experience as a Software Engineer, with a foundation in building backend services and a desire to deepen your skills in distributed systems
  • You understand what clean, correct code looks like and follow established best practices, with a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design fundamentals
  • You are familiar with relational and non-relational databases and understand how data modeling and access patterns affect system performance and reliability
  • You take ownership beyond the task. You care about the end to end impact of your work, from its operations to its impact on the customer.

You'll get competitive perks and benefits, from health & wellness to equity, to help you bring your best self to work.

For US based applicants:

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $190,000 annually + equity + benefits
  • Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
