We are seeking a skilled Roku Software Developer to join our team. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining high-performance Roku channels and applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to deliver top-notch streaming experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Maintain Roku Applications: Design, develop, and optimize Roku channels using BrightScript and SceneGraph, ensuring high performance and user experience.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineers to understand requirements and deliver solutions that align with business goals.
- Code Reviews and Best Practices: Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and adhere to best practices in coding standards and software architecture.
- Debugging and Issue Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in Roku applications, ensuring smooth and error-free operation.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Roku development trends, tools, and technologies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development process.
- Documentation: Write and maintain clear and concise technical documentation for new and existing features.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, helping them grow their skills and understanding of Roku development.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 4-6 years of professional software development experience, with significant experience in Roku development.
- Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, make architectural decisions, and influence best practices within the team.
- Advanced Problem Solving: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, with a proactive approach to identifying potential risks.
- Mentorship: Proven experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to the overall skill development of the team.
- Collaboration: Strong ability to work with remote teams and manage dependencies across multiple stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with video streaming technologies, DRM, and content delivery networks (CDN).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with Unit-testing frameworks (Rooibos)
- Experience with automated testing frameworks for Roku applications.
