Ansa is seeking a highly skilled and motivated software engineer to join our Informatics team. DNA synthesis at scale requires sophisticated sample tracking, QC assay data management, and production schedule orchestration. By joining this team of talented software engineers and bioinformatics scientists, you will be responsible for designing, writing, and maintaining production-quality code that enables automation of Ansa’s DNA manufacturing platform. Success means robust and scalable software systems that minimize errors and maximize efficiency in the lab. This is an opportunity to work at an exciting biotech startup, alongside R&D scientists and the manufacturing team, designing and building software that supports Ansa’s DNA manufacturing platform of the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly design and build scalable software applications in a cloud-based environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to discover requirements, cut through end users dictating implementation, and identify the right design
  • Share the team’s commitment to curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Own the use of software engineering best practices, including distributed version control, participation in team code review, and automation for building, testing, and deploying production code
  • On-call troubleshooting of production software issues: achieve rapid corrective action, identify root cause, and specify prevention
  • Ensure data integrity, traceability, accuracy, and security

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another quantitative discipline, with 3+ years of relevant industry software development experience
  • Demonstrated usage of standard software engineering best practices: peer code review, distributed version control, modern package managers, automated build/test/deploy CI/CD pipelines
  • Fluency in Python and SQL
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Nice-to-have experience:
    • Scaling software at a manufacturing startup
    • Molecular biology background

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Generous benefits package including health, dental, and vision.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • The opportunity to be part of a company at the forefront of synthetic biology and innovation.
