Build and evolve Netflix’s shared JavaScript application platform, including internal CLIs, SDKs, CI/CD workflows, development tooling, monorepo infrastructure, deployment integrations, and supporting services. Improve platform observability, performance, reliability, and developer experience while partnering across teams, supporting users, defining interfaces, validating infrastructure changes, and providing technical leadership without direct management.

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

We are the JS Applications Platform team. Our mission is to make it fast, safe, and joyful to build and ship the JavaScript software that powers Netflix's enterprise applications — the tools employees and partners use to bring our stories, games, and member experiences to life. The platform we build sits underneath hundreds of applications and services that Netflix depends on to deliver on its mission to entertain the world.

We build the shared foundation that every JavaScript team at Netflix builds on top of; defining the interfaces and building the automations to build and deliver JS software to multiple environments that support the evolving needs of the business. We partner closely with our sibling platform teams to ensure a coherent and consistent platform - so solutions for local dev tooling, CI/CD and others, are built once and reused everywhere rather than being duplicated by multiple teams.

We anchor on the human-facing elements of technology — the judgment, communication, and context that our Culture Memo describes as central to how we work. Code is a small slice of this team's impact.

About This Role

This role is focused on elevating the experience of building and shipping JavaScript software – we want to raise the bar for the daily experience of every JS developer at Netflix. The surface area is broad and includes library and framework development, developer engagement, development tooling, production debugging, operations, and support.

  • Define and evolve the interfaces (internal CLIs and SDKs) that let each software category — browser, backend, and libraries — integrate with our shared platform

  • Partner closely with the teams building JavaScript software to reimagine the boundaries between the platform and its users — creating cleaner, more independent interfaces that unlock speed and autonomy for everyone

  • Own the core application development platform, along with its CI/CD workflows and supporting services and libraries

  • Lead efforts to make the platform more observable and performant, seeking opportunities to optimize our existing solutions without jeopardizing business critical infrastructure

  • Drive the monorepo and local development experience as shared, cross-category concerns

  • Own infrastructure and deployment integrations that connect our platform to the broader Netflix deployment ecosystem

Excelling In This Role

  • You think in terms of interfaces or contracts, not just implementation — you can look at entangled, load-bearing code and see the clean abstraction trying to get out

  • You've designed and operated CI/CD and release systems at real scale — build pipelines, caching and incremental builds, artifact management, deploy safety — and you've been the person a team leans on when the pipeline breaks.

  • You treat the engineers who build on your platform as customers — you feel their daily friction, sweat the ergonomics of a CLI flag or an error message, and know the difference between tooling that merely works and tooling people reach for by choice.

  • You move work forward across teams you don't sit on — aligning on shared interfaces, negotiating boundaries, and unblocking everyone rather than stalling on whose problem it is — leading with curiosity and humility rather than escalation

  • You design for extensibility, while balancing practicality — addressing immediate needs with solid foundations that can evolve to meet future needs

  • You can balance immediate customer support needs against longer-term work — paying down tech debt and shipping new features — without letting either one consistently crowd out the other

  • You have a record of turning technical ambiguity into clear requirements that empower your team to execute with confidence that they’re building the right thing

  • You're rigorous about validating changes to shared infrastructure before they ship, and you actively look for ways to move our release processes toward faster, more confident deploys rather than just working around today's gaps

  • You raise the bar for the engineers around you through the patterns and interfaces you set and the design and code feedback you give — you multiply the team without needing to manage it
