Senior Software Engineer

We're a small, talented team, led by Jack Cable (Former CISA - Secure by Design), Ashwin Ramaswami (Former CISA, Stanford, and Schmidt Futures) and Alex Stamos (Former CISO of Facebook, Yahoo, SentinelOne).

• Building systems that can understand, analyze, and work with large amounts of code and context.

• Figuring out how to make AI coding agents more reliable and secure.

• Building infrastructure that can process code and AI-generated changes at scale.

• Working out how to turn complicated security problems into products developers actually want to use.

• Building a product where the underlying technology is changing as quickly as the product itself.

• Build and ship core product and platform systems, from architecture through production.

• Take ownership of complex problems and figure out the right technical approach with a high degree of autonomy.

• Design and build scalable backend and distributed systems, while working across the stack when needed.

• Build and productionize AI systems using LLMs, coding agents, and reasoning models.

• Work directly with customers to understand how they build software and use those insights to shape what we build.

• Help shape our architecture, engineering practices, and technical direction as the team grows.

• Work closely with the rest of the engineering and product teams in a small environment where you can have a direct impact on what gets built.

• Move quickly and ship. We care about solving the right problem and getting it into customers' hands.

• You're an experienced engineer who still wants to write a lot of code and build things yourself, rather than moving into a purely managerial role.

• Strong experience building and shipping production software, with particular depth in a range of languages eg. TypeScript, Node.js, React, Python, Go, Rust.

• Strong backend and distributed systems experience, with an understanding of how to build systems that are reliable and can scale.

• Good product instincts. You can take an ambiguous problem, work out what matters, and turn it into something useful.

• Comfortable making technical decisions independently and working without a lot of process or direction.

• Experience with modern infrastructure such as AWS, Terraform, Docker, and ECS/Kubernetes.

• Experience building and putting AI systems into production, including LLMs, coding agents, reasoning models, prompting, fine-tuning, or evaluation.

• Interested in the intersection of AI, developer tooling, and security.

• Strong communicator who can work effectively with engineers, product, and customers.

• A track record of owning projects from initial idea through implementation, deployment, and iteration.

• Help define one of the fastest-growing categories in software. AI is transforming how code is written, and we're building the security layer that enables it.

• Solve hard, meaningful problems. Work on novel AI, security, and developer experience challenges without an existing playbook.

• Make an outsized impact. As part of a small, ambitious team, you'll have real ownership and see your work directly influence customers and the future of the company.

• Be independent of the foundation labs. We are entirely independent of the foundation labs. Our goal is not to sell you tokens, and certainly not to over-hype or create fears about AI. We're practical! We empower security teams using open and closed models, local and cloud agents.

• CTO Ashwin Ramaswami is an engineer who has built large-scale systems at Skiff, Caldera, and Nooks, and has published research in AI and foundation models at Stanford.

• CSO Alex Stamos is the former CISO of Facebook, Yahoo, and SentinelOne and a current lecturer at Stanford University.
