We're looking for a software engineer who loves to build high performance data processing systems. Our customers are scaled up companies who send complex, semi-structured data which they need to process and analyze in real-time. If you've worked on database systems, compilers, networks, or storage systems, and want to translate this knowledge to the AI field, this could be the role for you. You will play a significant role in the foundational system architecture, technology choices, and implementation. Our founding team has deep expertise in database and ML systems, and you'll be empowered to both collaborate closely with them and explore your own ideas.

As a systems engineer at Braintrust, you’ll help build the core systems powering Braintrust's ability to process and query massive volumes of unstructured data at enterprise scale. Areas of ownership include:

• Contribute to the storage, indexing, and query execution performance of Brainstore.

• Expanding Braintrust's btql query language.

• Optimizing query patterns to improve performance across our platform.

• Expert-level understanding of systems programming (C++ or Rust, concurrency, databases, operating systems)

• Previous experience founding or working at startups is a plus

• Has written prompts / tinkered with GPT models and apps
