About Zip

Zip is the AI platform for enterprise procurement — built for humans and agents working together. By orchestrating procurement across teams, tools, and suppliers with the help of AI agents, companies can secure the resources they need to innovate faster than ever before.
The world’s most influential enterprises trust Zip, including T-Mobile, OpenAI, AMD, Mars, Dollar Tree, and more. Together they’ve saved over $8 billion and processed over $500 billion in spend. Zip’s team includes product leaders from Apple, Airbnb, and Meta, as well as former procurement leaders from United Health, Sanofi, MGM Resorts, Discover, and NASA.
Backed by Adams Street, Alkeon, BOND, CRV, DST, Tiger Global, and Y Combinator, Zip has raised $371 million, most recently at a $2.2 billion valuation and has been recognized by Forbes Fintech 50, Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies, Inc. Best in Business, and LinkedIn Top Startups.

Your Role

As a Software Engineer on ZipX, Zip's AI team, you will help define what it means to build AI-native product experiences in enterprise procurement. ZipX spans the full stack of AI at Zip — from the foundational infrastructure that powers every AI feature across the platform, to intelligent agents that automate complex procurement workflows, to contract orchestration tools that replace hours of manual legal work with structured, AI-driven review.

You will ship high-impact features used by enterprise customers from day 1 — working in small, high-ownership pods where engineers are expected to take complex AI concepts from prototype to production at pace. We sit at the intersection of next-generation AI capabilities and tangible customer value — bridging cutting-edge techniques with the reliability and intuitiveness that enterprise users demand. Whether you're building agentic systems, scaling AI infrastructure, or embedding intelligent workflows into Zip's core product, you'll do it with a bias for action, a tight-knit cross-functional team behind you, and the opportunity to set the standard for what AI-first procurement looks like.

You Will
  • Design and build highly reliable, production-grade AI products and features — spanning agentic workflows, LLM-powered automation, and intelligent document processing.

  • Translate complex AI concepts into intuitive, customer-facing experiences that eliminate manual work and drive smarter procurement decisions.

  • Own features end-to-end: from scoping and architecture through to shipping and iterating based on real customer feedback.

  • Write high-quality, extensible, and maintainable code that serves as the foundation for Zip's AI-first product strategy.

  • Build scalable APIs, backend services, and frontend components that bring AI capabilities seamlessly into Zip's core platform.

Qualifications
  • We are hiring software engineers across all levels. Most of our open roles are targeting individuals with at least 2 years experience if past work is highly relevant

  • BS or higher, in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g. physics or math)

  • Experience with web application and API development in production environments. At Zip, our stack includes Python, Javascript, React, and GraphQL.

  • Experience with industry-standard build, test, and deploy tools. At Zip, our stack includes Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Kibana, Prometheus, and Grafana.

  • Ability and interest to quickly learn new frameworks, architecture patterns, and programming languages as needed

  • Experience working at a small company with diverse responsibilities is a bonus, but not required.

  • Experience working with API connections with external systems like Jira, ServiceNow, Slack, etc is a bonus, but not required.

  • Exposure to AI-driven automation or interest in working with AI/ML teams to build intelligent workflows.

The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $260,000. The salary for this position is determined based on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant experience, education, or particular skills and expertise.
