About Springcraft
Today, building robots and intelligent machines means navigating fragmented tools, incompatible hardware, and closed ecosystems. It takes too long, costs too much, and locks builders in.
There is no default platform for physical AI. We're building it.
Springcraft brings together purpose-built hardware, developer tools, and AI models into one open, integrated system so that builders can create machines that sense, understand, and act in the real world.
Founded by the team behind 8th Wall, the largest AR platform for the web (acquired by Niantic), we bring deep experience in spatial computing. Backed by Night Capital, Eric Semler of TCS Capital, Village Global, and exceptional angels, we're based in Palo Alto and hiring our core team now.
The Role
As a Software Engineer, you will architect and build the Springcraft development platform from the ground up. This is where builders go from idea to intelligent machine. You'll own the full stack, from interactive development tools to backend infrastructure and community features, shipping a working platform that builders love.
This is a foundational hire. You'll define the developer experience for physical AI.
Springcraft is built on open hardware and open standards. The platform you build will be used by developers, researchers, and builders around the world.
What You'll Do
- Architect and build the Springcraft developer platform
- Build an IDE with code editing, debugging, and AI-assisted tools
- Develop 3D visualization and interactive tools
- Define APIs/interfaces to hardware and firmware, including real-time telemetry and device communication
- Collaborate with the Mechatronics Engineer to expose hardware capabilities through software
- Collaborate with the AI Engineer on model integration and AI-powered platform features
- Build platform infrastructure for a growing library of community content
- Implement user management and account infrastructure
- Own deployment, monitoring, and platform security
- Contribute to developer documentation
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
- Strong TypeScript/React experience with complex, interactive web applications
- Experience building tools or platforms used by technical users outside your own team
- Experience with 3D graphics in the browser (WebGL, Three.js, or equivalent)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or equivalent)
- Comfortable owning the full stack in a fast-moving environment
- Authorized to work in the United States, we are unable to sponsor work visas at this time
Nice to Have
- Experience with simulation environments or physics engines
- Experience with real-time communication protocols (WebSocket, MQTT, or similar)
- Experience shipping a production platform or developer product, or significant open-source contributions
- Familiarity with Python for backend services and integration with ML pipelines
- Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into developer tools
- Experience with Rust and/or C/C++
