Role
Design and build production-grade backend services in Java and Python, ship them with modern DevOps/CI-CD practices, and bring AI/ML capabilities into the platform. This team operates a large-scale, highly-available distributed cloud platform.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and scale Java and Python services and APIs
  • Own services end-to-end
  • Automate CI/CD pipelines
  • Apply DevOps practices (containers, Infrastructure as Code, observability)
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities into the platform
  • Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and on-call rotations

Minimum Qualifications
  • CS degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience with strong Java and Python skills
  • 3+ years of CI/CD experience (Jenkins, Spinnaker, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
  • 3+ years of DevOps experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities
  • Experience with Maven/Gradle
  • Linux and networking experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • SQL experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle
  • Hands-on machine learning experience (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
  • Experience with data platforms (Kafka, Spark, Airflow)
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
  • NoSQL experience (MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB)
  • Experience supporting 24/7 high-availability production environments

Positioning
  • Primary: Java/Python
  • Strong required secondary: DevOps, CI/CD, AI
  • Preferred: PostgreSQL/Oracle plus machine learning

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $148,500 - $223,900 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $178,900 - $246,000 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
